I played this once for a solo competition in 7th grade. I played the hell out of it. All they had was praise. And that I needed to empty the spit valve.

Very tastefully played. The work, the Saint-Saëns Romance, op. 36, is of course in the public domain and readily available in a number of very inexpensive editions.

I have to play this to get my placement for concert band next year, and I think it’ll be fairly easy- though personally, I really like high notes so it might be difficult for others. It’s such a pretty piece, I almost don’t want to ruin it for me by playing it 1976482 times

I thought that staccato slur notes are still tongued , and separate? You played them as one slur, without any tonguing. What is the proper way to play them? Other than that, this was played beautifully. I’m in middle school auditioning for a State Honors Band. Thank you for helping me prepare for my audition solo

In my opinion, it comes down to the musical piece. For compositions like marches or those with a more articulated style, I prefer tonguing and slightly separating the notes. However, for the specific piece in question, I would articulate the notes while maintaining an extremely legato connection between them, which is what the composer intended.

In this piece they are both slurred and separate. It's confusing but I also partially think it was his taste that went into it.

I am learning this piece now and I have thought I was getting pretty good but then my teacher told me that I put no music into my song. I was confused as I was following as it was written and all the little simbols. But then I went to yt to see how I should play it and you blew me away. I hope i will ever be as great as you. I am 16 btw realy just an amateur.
