In terms of neurotypical vs atypical there are a lot of characters with ADHD in Heyer (and Austin), and Leonie is definitely on the spectrum as well as being ADHD I think. Lord Rupert comes to mind re ADHD fairly obviously (as well as obviously being gay, and by the devils cub having a drinking problem, as does his classic domestic abuser of a nephew). When I was a child, I found Lord Vidal so romantic. He was my absolute favorite Heyer hero. When I re-read her novels as an adult (after having worked as an alcohol and drug counselor, and so being very familiar with alcoholic violence and domestic abuse) I was horrified to discover that he was a classic domestic violence guy with drinking problem. I feel as though that is her one and only novel that teenage girls probably shouldn't be reading, because he's a really really really really bad guy to hold up to young girls as a romantic ideal.
