( btw i am a romani girl from France who has learnt hindi and currently marathi , so if u want to discuss with me you are the most welcome dear 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏)
Lamar Davis hello, Namaskar, Namaste, I read about Romany Gypsy language from a ebook written by George burrow. Its a kind of dictionary and is available online on Kindle app. Also there is one Dr Hancock who I presume is an authority on Romani language. He has in one of his lectures stated that around 800 words of Indian origin can be found in Romani Gypsy language. There are many words like Kalo = Black colour , duis = two .I think 'Shastra' word is also there in Romani language which means weapons of iron. Mr Hancock has said that Romani Gypsy people had migrated from Indian Subcontinent between 1000 AD and 1250 AD to Europe, turkey, Armenia etc. It's great to know that you know Hindi & Marathi Indian language. This would indeed help you to know more details about similarities of Romani and Indian language. Do write here some common words . Thank you. Shubh Ratri or Good night. It was pleasure communicating with you.
Lamar Davis , Hi, Gav= Village or town,Also Rani = queen. Here 'Gav' means village in Marathi and Hindi too. For Moon or Rabbit there is a word called ' Shoshoi' in Romani which is derived from Sanskrit word of "Shashi". In Marathi rabbit is called 'Sasa'. "Kalya" means tomorrow or yesterday in Romani. It is called "Kal" in Hindi or KAAL in Marathi also.
+shivkumar bhatia , as well , ' jibh ' means 'tongue' both in Hindi and Marathi which is pretty close to our Romanichal word ' chib ' which means both ' 'tongue' and 'language ' , for ' hand ' we say 'vhast ' whilst in Sanskrit , it is said as : " hasta " . Likewise , in Marathi , Marwari and Romanichal " gelo " means " gone" ( masculine tense) , and in both Romanichal and Marathi ' naav ' means 'name ' . And then 'swaasthy' means 'health' in Marathi and Hindi whence our Romanichal word " sasti " .. The list goes on ...... btw may i know whence did you get that much knowledge dear ? 😃 here's my mailbox : Kelly.bakery7248uk@gmail.com
