I am American and this story has always intrigued me. Such a beautiful family. The children certainly didn't deserve this. None of them did. They could have just exiled them, what an unspeakable act.
Acyutananda das yes, that did occur to me after I posted as initially I was only thinking of the immediate family and how no one would want it or as in the case of the son, wouldn't live long enough more than likely...but thanks for your reply!
Michael John Dennis = alas There already is a new Czar Putin the first who will never ever allow restoration of the ancient dynasty. As Putin has children with his young wife,He certainly is dooming about the throne to be left to his children ...
@Michael John Dennis The only survivor I ever heard about was the controversial Anastasia. Have you new info? I don't blame them for hiding during the USSR but they can come out now
I don't know how I missed all of this when it was happening. I just found this today and I want to thank you very much for putting this wonderful family to rest as they deserved. All my 71 years or at least all the years I can remember I have wanted to know what happened to this great family. prayers and great-granny hugs to all the people who gave their all to solve this mystery and make sure this family was joined together in eternal rest.
@@maryhlad5277 why??the Bolshevik Revolution was happening in Russia not in England. They just didn't want to loose popularity among their people. It would have not be "politically "correct.
Ikr, they were like doppelgangers also, identical twins. The British king was, sposedly, scared his own ppl would revolt in anger, him helping foreign royalty. Dunno why though?
I saw the funeral corsage along the embankment. It was very moving. I never thought that I would ever the see the Russian royal family honored in St. Petersburg. I even saw many monarchist in their tsarist Russian uniforms. Yelstin did the right thing.
Rest in peace Tsar Nicholas II, Tsarina Alexandra Feadorovna, Tsarevich Alexei, Princess Olga, Princess Tatiana, Princess Maria and Grand Duchess Anastasia
That was one of the most descent things the Russian government of the time did. Rest in Peace OTMA. May you have peace at last as you rest with your family.
Now if they will finally allow the Grand Duchess Maria and her brother, Tsarevich Alexei the same rightful and respectful burial so the whole family will at last be at rest together as one under the same roof.
Watching this fills me with hope - that after decades of injustice - the family was given the final honour. Praise be to God that they found the bodies. I only hope Alexei and Marie can join them.
While Nicholas was by no means the ideal ruler, he was far from being a Caligula. He cared deeply about Russia, and the problems he had to face (social changes, a belligerant Germany) would have taxed the abilities of any ruler. And compared to what came after him, he was an absolute saint.
farmerne you are right he wasn’t the right leader actually he was just about the most unfit ruler Russia could have at that time. Weak leadership in a time of great social change is a recipe for disaster. But they didn’t deserve it.
😂😂😂😂 the romanov family deserved it i don't care about their daughter because the romanov family killed million of russians familys too including peoples daughter and sons . read history the romanov family was bad for russia the romanov family was very rich but the people was very very poor they deserved it!!! And you should know that almost all russians respect and love Lenin and Stalin.
@@thuglifesociety3416 Stop reading the Communist propaganda about the Romanovs and learn the truth about them they were kind and loving people, they loved each other and Russia dearly and Nicky did the best he could for the people, in fact, I read that he went out on his horse frequently and met with the people to hear their problems and tried to solve them the best he could!
I have studied the history of this Czar and the trials they all suffered. This is potentially a very emotional ceremony, but the solemnity and respect due them demands unparalleled stoicism. Tears if any come later in private....Rest In Peace
I am glad to hear that non-Russians are interested in the history of Czar Nicholas II and his family. Russia has a very long devastating history and even before the Russians. The BULLshitviks , OOP! The Bolsheviks executed my paternal grandfather who was a military priest. My father and his family never knew where his dad was executed or where the BULLshitviks placed his remains. Lenin gave the order to execute, the entire Czar's family with his servants.
@@jiffyyoyo6253 the rich Russian history is unparalleled to no other. It fascinates me. I had the incredible opportunity to visit St Petersburg a couple of months ago and now I just want to come back again to see , to learn and to experience more.

They can never repair such horrible event, a beautiful family, awesome children, none of them deserved such thing, may they Rest In Peace. The whole world is looking for this part of history which belongs to each one of us all round the earth.
The King of England was asked if he would accept the Russian Royal Family in England. There was a choice to exile the Czar and his family to England but the English king refused. Needless to say that he and the Czar were first cousins and looked like identical twins. The blood of Czar Nicholas and his Empress Alexandra and all their children was and is on the English royal family's hands. It goes back to Henry VIII whose hands were dipped in blood. The same DNA.
As an American who has a love of other cultures when I read about the Romanav family I felt devastated. Heartbreak doesn't begin to describe the feeling I had. These were human beings that once lived, breathed how could another human being be so evil to wipe out an entire family?
They were brutally murdered and that same god knew it would happen, stood by and did NOTHING, dont expect any blessings from that monster 90 years later either!
@@MrShaneVicious not the children , only tzar nicholas had blood on his hands , his children were very kind , loving and had alot empathy for others , Grand Duchess Olga Nikolaevna is the most beautiful woman iv'e ever seen , i love her very much , she was a kind soul , she brought alot of positive energy to this cold world , R.I.P darling , she was only 22 years old when she was killed , only two years older than me 😔😢🖤 here are pictures of Olga : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aFaZXHc1CTc.html
am so extremely happy that their majesties, olga and her sisters received a decente burial that is the prove that God exist , God bless the russian goivernment and the romanovs relatives, your majesties , olga and her sisters honestly did not deserve to die in that horrible way, the bolcheviques were wicked monsters!!!
What bought about an end to the Imperial family was their disastrous commitment to absolute monarchy despite the world changing about them. The Tsar was a good man but a hopeless politician. The British royal survived and flourished because they had embraced change and democracy centuries earlier.
Entering WWI was their downfall. The tsar had already granted a constitution and parliament. The Provisional Government was too weak and stayed in the war. It's a simple as that. The Bolsheviks came in and made peace with Germany giving them vast areas of western Russia and the Ukraine. After the Germans lost the war the Bolsheviks had to fight a brutal civil war with the anti-communists for four years . The rest is history.
Well, Nicholas was Colonel-in-Chief of Royal Scots Dragoon Guards. They still play the Imperial anthem in honour of him on special occasions and it would be entirely proper for them to be at the funeral.
Soviet Era will never compare to the majesty of the Romanovs. Rest in eternal peace with you're famous ancestors. Russia was, and will never be the same since this tragedy happened.
As far as I know, the reason the Imperial Family were canonized is because, in the seconds between the announcement in the cellar at Ipatiev House, that they were to be executed, and the actual shooting, at least the Tsarina and her daughters uttered prayers and crossed themselves. This does show some spiritual discipline for sure. I cannot argue about the criteria for canonization, as I don't fully understand it anyway. What makes a Saint??
I never forget this sad tragedy family since when I was very young. Now, this is really lovely & bittersweet burials that are finally rest in peace. God save Czar & his family from New Orleans, USA❤❤❤
Visited St. Petersburg last December 2017, and the first to visit was The Fortress. I was intrigued at first with the unforgiving fate of the Romanov's. The children didn't deserve to die that way. It was goosebumps when I was standing in front of the door going to their final resting place. I can feel some souls wanting to whisper something while silently offering a prayer for them.
Never met or knew this family, yet seeing their coffins and hearing their story I felt so sad for them. And sadder our own King did not offer them safety. Whatever you think of Royalty, they were born into it, yet he abdicated. They were murdered regardless. Rest in Peace. 🙏🏻
Casi 100 años despues la historia se cierra para una nacion ...y para una de las familias ...mas influyentes en la historia ..rusa...saludos desde peru 🇵🇪🇵🇪🇵🇪🇵🇪
Very touching ceremony Imagine the lives of a whole family murdered, especially the innocent children. The lives of 4beautiful woman who was taken from this world
TheSovietComrade, but what replaced him was even worse. Also, plenty of rules of countries have been pretty bad all over the world. Nicholas was nowhere near the top of the list of bad rulers.
CrankCase08 How do you know they were executed? Bodies in a ditch? DNA evidence from relatives? Something that maybe was overlooked, perhaps bodies missing from the Romanov vaults. Don't assume just because you think all the pieces fall into place to paint a vivid picture of closure that the accounts are true. They merely returned the already deceased ancestors back to their own tombs. www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=52462952 mobile.nytimes.com/2016/02/14/world/europe/russian-orthodox-church-blocks-funeral-for-last-of-romanov-remains.html
What about God save the ignorant incompetent masses who are merely unknowing puppets used by elitist fanatics in their struggles to gain power over everyone. The lumpen proletariat are simply used as cannon fodder in the "Animal Farm" games
They were brutally murdered and that same god knew it would happen, stood by and did NOTHING, dont expect any blessings from that monster 90 years later either!
And there's the fact that Prince Michael of Kent himself is related to them. I can only imagine how weird it feels to mourn family members you never even met, and never will have met.
I arrived here by chance, because I'm going to visit St Petersburg this spring. My first time in Russia. My deepest respect for the way that this is done for the Romanov Family. Was that a Scottish Backpiper at 4:25?
To I have been following but I can't understand why the did allow the family espec I ally the. Kids to be killed so violently what did they do to those men who did that to them u believe the British should have saved them (kids)
The bag pipes might be from the UK regiment Nicholas was a colonel in. It is incredible moving that the family was FINALLY given burial at St Peter's and Paul. Let us hope the others will join them soon .
When the funeral was held I wonder if there were any Russians alive when Tsar Nicholas II was the Tsar of All The Russia's? Those coffins hold so much history inside them of a bygone era of Imperial Majesty if only they could speak to us their spirits live though may they all rest in peace!
So why should a Scottish piper be playing? Because many Scots, rather than submit to English rule after the union of 1707, gravitated to Russia...... to work in the naval dockyards at Kronstadt, to help modernise the Russian navy and army. As well as there being a 'wild west' there was also a 'wild east' and Scots are attracted to such places.
being scottish myself, i was very moved when they played the pipes for the tsar and his family x it's lovely that they eventually got the proper dignified send-off they deserved!
+ Alexander Jones Hmm not really, the Russian royal family was related to Queen Victoria, who was by blood, more German than anything else, being from the Hanoverian line. Ok, So Victoria maybe had a weee teeny smigin of Stuart blood in her, going from like waaaay back from some very distant past relations, but certainly not enough to make the Russian royal family anywhere near Scottish. I think the bagpipes at the funeral had more to do with Tsar Nicholas's connection with the Scottish army, and the fact that he had a healthy respect for Scotland and vice versa. Most educated Russians had a fascination with Scottish culture. Nicholas himself was Colonel-In-Chief of the Royal Scots Greys regiment. And as for the 1707 union act being a.....ahem... 'mutual' agreement. Well i can state, as would most Scots, that there was nothing mutual about it, it was an agreement which was forced on us, not one that was actually chosen by the people. The only people in my country who chose the union were a few of the Scottish nobles, who were bribed by the English government with the promise of lots of money and more land if they signed the agreement, it therefore was in their own greedy interests to side with the English crown. For the common families and the indigenous clans of Scotland, the union spelt disaster, and an end to their entire way of life. And if you read anything about 18th century history, and the 'ethnic cleansing' and genocide (and it 100% was that) by the British government of those they considered 'troublesome', (i.e Scots who would not give up any part of their identity, such as their language, customs, etc) you will soon realise that they basically wanted 'rid' (and by that i do mean killed) of anyone who would not submit, so you couldn't be more wrong there i'm afraid. And not just in Scotland, it happened in many other places too, unfortunately during that era, there was plenty of being forced to submit to English rule in the countries that became colonised by the British.
+ Gregor Mcgregor Interesting! And yeah, that would make sense right enough! And indeed we Scots are as you say, attracted to places which are wild and untamed, because we are by nature that way ourselves. x
What's sad is they probably knew about Alexis health and didn't give two thoughts about sparing him. They probably knew any injury/illness would kill him and they took advantage of that.
That would have been worse to let him see or know that his family had been killed. And yes, he would have died eventually very soon even with the best care of those days. He couldn’t walk his last weeks/months/days.
Being born into royalty shouldn't come with a death sentence. They didn't choose the family they were born into. The Czar didn't even want to be king, as I recall. So sad. They didn't deserve a shooting squad. I have been fascinated by Russian history for many years and consider Catherine the Great one of the greatest female role models in history.
This is a beautiful funeral to a gorgeous royal family didn't deserve to be like slaves by their own country honestly they were trying to keep up the duties on being a loving family plus if they were still alive 2day they would be making very good chances, the children would've started a family of their own. RIP romanov family

I wish this could have turned out a different way. That they had somehow survived and lived. But I also wish they could have had a proper funeral much sooner!
@RomanovMartyrs So it was maria's remains that were missing? I knew there was a debate weather it was ana or maria missing. Well I'm glad they found her and alexi its about time they rested in peice with a proper burial.
It all comes back to one thing, yes they were abdicated but murdering them so brutally and burying them without respect was never necessary, they shouldn’t have been killed
Grand Duchess Olga was completly heartbroken and tired in the last couple of months before she was killed , she had lost hope that she and her family would survive they're inprisonment , she was very stressed , depressed and anxious during the last year of her life in captivity , when she was in the Ipatiev house , she would usually sit by her little brother alexei's bed , comforting him , making him feel safe , it's amazing how she found strength to comfort her little brother during the last 2 months of her life considering she was the most heartbroken out of all the Romanov family , and she was the one who needed comforting the most , the few times she went outside in the garden , she would just stare at the sky for many minutes , poor Olga , she had alot on her mind during her last year on this earth , R.I.P darling 😔😢🖤 here are pictures of Olga Nikolaevna : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aFaZXHc1CTc.html
It was such a brutal act. You could have got them to sign away their right to the throne for the Tsar and all their defendants. Just as bad as killing Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. I just hope that it was over quickly and they didn’t suffer too much! May they rest peacefully in gods world. My thoughts are with the remaining family members.
Actually it wasn’t over quickly and the children lived the longest and were shot, stabbed, and finally bludgeoned to death. As most things related to communism the execution was carried out by people that were totally incompetent.
My great grandmother was lady in waiting to tsarina at Winter Palace in St Petersburg and escaped with my grandmother when the Royal Family was murdered , They fled to Sweden were Gustaf took them in and on to Britain. My uncle Gustav was named after him for his kindness.
Greetings from germany where many signs, stones and other historic things remind people to that time where zar Nikolaus visit often germany and sometimes Kaiser WilhelmII was present too.
It is truly a miracle that Russia survived to Boris Yeltsin, the worst! And Yeltsin must have been drunk, as usual, when coming down the stairs. Long live the Republic!
Not trying to be rude but to get somthing straight for My essay for My history class. was it maria or anastasia found with alexei I know there was a debate on wich of the little pair was missing
There's a certain irony to Yeltsin's appearance at this event. When he was a Communist Party Boss in Sverdlovsk( Yekaterinberg), he had the Ipatiev House, where the executions took place torn down 20 years earlier so that it wouldn't become a shrine to lost monarchy. A cathedral now stands on that site.
wait am I counting correct? because they were missing two coffins.. the Romanov siblings should be 5 right? but I only see 3.. does this mean that the other two was not found yet?
