Praise be to God for yet another amazing bible study in the book of Romans. Steve Lawson has the God-given ability to teach and exhort the truth as it is written.
While I fully agree with you, John MacArthur, and R.C. Sproul that the music is not the primary medium of worship--that being the preaching of the Word, corporate prayer, and the partaking of the Lord's Supper. Corporate adoration to God through singing is still an element of worship. Unfortunately, today's worship music is often very superficial, repetitive, overly sentimental, and often lacking in sound theology. This also includes many of the old standards--In the Garden, comes to mind. I just don't understand why the contemporary church has moved so faraway from God's hymnal--the Psalms. Why can't musically creative Christians put the Psalms to music. Wouldn't this be truly God honoring?
