2. The two paths of handling despair in Romans 8
a. The path of the flesh
i. An orientation diametrically opposed to God.
ii. Leads to hurting others and spiritual death.
b. The path of the Holy Spirit
i. There is no condemnation in Christ.
ii. God did through Christ what the Law could not do.
iii. Leads to peace and spiritual life.
iv. Affirms one’s adoption into the family of God.
