Buttons are are sure sign that clothing thread is getting weak. It's when pocket lining thread goes the same way that post roman coins turn up in more abundance, I find. Your hunt today shows first hand the realities of detecting. Great signals are often buttons and balls but you've got to dig them. Get lazy and you miss the better finds. I find that IF you can find a tighter hedge-line, thats a sheltering break out of the cold/rain-bearing winds, good finds are often to be made. Field workers, live-stock handlers and labour-force supervisors 'get in out of i to either rest, eat/drink, watch,tend and....... 'go to the toilet'. Those big fields are bleak in the colder months, and damp in Spring. Just a thought Dan. Thank you, for taking us with you again!

great vid again buddy , the ring on the wire could be of a child's toy like an aeroplane maybe , the other ring thing is probably a button people used to make cloth buttons as it was a cheap way to get them and that's what most of them we find are , but they could be either , nice to see some roman on your field its getting better,

Hi mate 👍, the ferrocheck is only there as a guide really so best not to rely on it. If the have a target that's good, but there is iron nearby, then you will get mixed readings, which is why I still dig them. Best to go by the tone and if it sounds good, dig it up 👌👍. All of my dig-able signals are ones that sound good mate, I don't tend to rely on the ferrocheck. If a target is not showing anything on the ferrocheck, it us usually because it is either very small or too deep for the legend to give a reading. Thank you for watching mate 👍

That is correct, on cultivated land like that, most signals are shallow. However some of the signals are masked by iron and a £100 machine won't hit those. Thanks for watching 👍

I have a 1990’s whites spectrum xlt and I’m interested in perhaps giving metal detecting a go. Problem is it needs a new battery. In your opinion is it worth the investment or should I buy a more modern detector?
If you are fairly tech savvy, then I would say go for a newer machine, as the technology has come a long long way and today's machines are just brilliant. If you are into the older more simple tech, the definitely get the whites a new battery 👍. Sometimes simple is better. Thank you for watching mate 👍

Nothing to report on the sounds at my end mate. Did you go back to factory defaults after updating? If you are having issues after that, then I would suggest re-loading the update and trying it again 👍
@@DiggerDanMetalDetecting i reloaded 1.11 again and the sound is not the same, not as crisp or sharp as 1.09 or the beta version .i do not know if is just my detector hope not ,loving the legend
