I feel privileged to have grown up in my faith with such clear,wise and listenable Bible teaching.David never avoids what many would call controversial issue's.His teaching has always been accurate researched biblical and Holy Spirit delivered.May I say also he has a wonderful sense of humour,and I have to add he sheds tears more than any other aerator I have listened to .It reveals a real love for Jesus Christ ,and the audience he has served for several decades.ps Thank-you too to all his family who allow us to hear him speak though his life ,and his death. Confused ... if you die before completing this “process” are you not saved? Doesn’t make sense to me. The thief on the cross was saved while he was on the cross, that wasn’t much of a process. This sounds more like he’s talking about sanctification not salvation.
@jpthemotivator4348
@jpthemotivator4348 3 года назад
He means that the process doesn’t end with a mere confession but along the journey after Justification you are being sanctified through obedience and dying to self daily and when you Die in the lord you will be glorified. (Justification)Now you have been saved from Sin , (Sanctification ) You are being saved from the power of sin daily and in the future you will be saved from the presence of sin(Glorification)

@@astrialindah2773 Jesus was preparing his disciples of His second coming. He was telling them of the signs of His coming. So He said "But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved." The “those” in verse 29 could mean the people in the past (those who loved God). Because these people loved God, God predestined (prepare a destiny) them to be conformed to the image of Christ. You must have faith to love God, thus only those who have faith (continues in faith) are predestined. When you lose your faith, you lose the destiny God prepare for you.

David, how does this scripture fit in "Pilgrims Progress" and your horizontal view? John 10: "28 And I GIVE unto them eternal life; and they shall NEVER perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. 30 I and my Father are one. (Notice that it doesn't say, gave them TO me) Read 1 John Are you a man? He said that, "no MAN shall pluck them out of my hand!
@CP-zb3ky
@CP-zb3ky 5 лет назад
You are reading John 10 out of context. Here Jesus was responding to the unbelieving Jews/Pharisees saying that no one (i.e. no others) can snatch Jesus' sheep out of His or the Father's hand. However, Jesus never said that the sheep can't themselves be sinning unrepentant and lose salvation themselves. This is consistent with the rest of the Scriptures where Jesus consistently and sternly warn believers to not lose one's own salvation. This same principle applies not just to individual believers but also to churches. There are no outside forces or people that can destroy a church, outside persecutions only make the church stronger. Churches can only be corrupted and destroyed from the inside, by its members living in unrepentant sins and no proper church disciplines in place.

@@jilltilghman3027 Some preachers preach that guilt and shame are no longer our portion in Christ. I understand what they mean but personally I think the last 30-40 years of mainly focusing on God's love and acceptance has given a skewered picture. Some Christians no longer fear the wrath of God and especially in the UK where I live, Christians seem to merrily break the rules, live in sin and think God will just keep forgiving so it's okay. In summary I think the point you're at now, when you feel guilt and shame over your sins is far better than the smug comfort of living comfortable with sin and thinking it's okay. So keep repenting, keep asking for God's help to break free and He will give you the strength to resist. One day this sin will be broken and no longer have a hold on you. As long as you never stop putting in the effort... I speak from experience..... And it's the same for all....else Paul wouldn't say "That which I want, I don't do and that which I would not, I do. Oh wretched man am I"....He must have known the pain of repeatedly falling into same sins......when you've gone without committing those sins for a while and start to feel good about yourself and then Bam! You slip up and you're right back to square one. We all been there. Keep fighting......

Why did Jesus tell the criminals crucified along side of him that they would be in paradise with Him that day ? I like this guy - but I do not believe we lose salvation and I don’t believe salvation a journey consisting of pop quizzes and tasks . Sanctification , yes. Salvation ? Nope .
@CP-zb3ky
@CP-zb3ky 5 лет назад
Nancy Baumgartner That's because the criminal truly REPENTED right then and there on the cross! No repentance, no salvation. And yes, one can lose his/her salvation (get cut off, get name deleted from the book of life, etc...) by deliberately and intentionally living in sin without repentance. This is taught very clearly throughout the Scriptures.

The issue is that when people think about baptism as a part of salvation it is assumed that it justifies us. As pawson says, salvation is a process, sanctification is a part of that process, and baptism is a part of salvation. It is not saying that you can't be found in Christ on the last day without it, rather that it is much harder to run a race if you do it unequipped. It's there to help us run the race not a prerequusite to it.
@TasX
@TasX 5 лет назад
Don't take this anywhere near fact, but you could say that the thief was technically baptized in his own blood. Plus, he literally confessed to Jesus in person and literally died on the cross to his sins after he confessed. I don't think you can get any more real than that baptism. That's just me playing the devil's advocate tho. I personally think baptism by water isnt necessary, but it is important

@@TasX interesting hypothesis! And I agree, baptism isn’t not required, but good if we can ;). On a side note, paradise is a beautiful and peaceful staging place until Christ raises his people, not the final judgment or heaven. It’s wild that the Bible says in a few places that no one ascend into heaven but the Son. Christ will eventually present his jewels to the Father, but that is at least 1,000 years away ;)

Baptism in water is not essential for our salvation for today. Why? The Spirit, not water bapises us into the body of Christ, 13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:13 There is only one baptism today, 5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, Ephesians 4:5
@DavidPawsonMinistry
@DavidPawsonMinistry 8 месяцев назад
That may be your interpretation of a few verses but that is taking a few verses out of context The context of Ephesians 4:5 is all about "unity" not a verse about the meaning of Baptism, There were many factions in the early church, between Jewish believers and Gentiles , many at that time saying they were baptised by John the Baptist , others that they were baptised by Peter or Paul Acts 19:3 ..... this verse in Ephesians states there is but one baptism and that is not the baptism of John, Peter, Paul ..... it is the Baptism of Jesus, going through the waters, dying to ones old self Romans 6:3 Take the whole of scripture not a few verses and you will see a different teaching about baptism. The book of Acts tells us there are 4 steps to becoming a Christian - repent, believe baptism in water and receive the Holy Spirit, Some examples in Acts the writer focusses on one or two of these stages to emphasis something but consistently throughout Acts you will find all 4 steps mentioned. Acts 10:47 highlights that a few had received the Holy Spirit but had not been baptised in water ..... "Can any man forbid water that these should not be baptised .......then he commanded them to be baptised in the name of the Lord " To dismiss water baptism dismisses a key teaching of the Gospel Jesus himself insisted John the Baptist baptised him in water as an example to us all ....and after he was baptised teh Holy Spirit came down upon him Acts 2:38 Repent, and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Repentance and Baptism in water are for the forgiveness of sins and yes there is now one baptism - not the Baptism of John and the Baptism of Jesus - just the Baptism of Jesus - Repent, and be baptised, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit To say Water baptism is no longer required is misquoting the teaching of the Gospels and the discipling of the Apostles

Im sure you will have no objections to me quoting this verse of scripture.... in full .......and in the context in which is it was written Romans 10 - where Paul is quoting the Old Testament Joel 2:32 "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved "........."How then can they call on the one they have not believed in, and how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard "......... and a few verses later " NOT all the Israelites accepted the good news" ..... So ........whilst everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved ..........this verse, quoted in full, indicates there is a condition Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved ..condition ... providing they "believe" in Him ....and not everyone accepts the good news ............. ....which is consistent with the most well known verse in the Bible John 3:16 "God so loved the World, that He gave His one and only Son ......."that whoever believes in Him will be saved " ....... or more accurately quoting the greek "whoever carries on believing in Him "....will be saved Do you agree with this ? Or Does it not fit the message you wish others to hear ? Then comes the real question - ...If you believe in Jesus and you call on His name you will be saved........ but what does it mean to believe in Jesus ?......." because not everyone accepts the good news Did Jesus not say "If you Love me, you will keep His commandments"....... and did Jesus also not say "If any one desires to follow me, let him renounce self and take up his cross" The good news is that "Everyone who believes in him, renounces self, and keeps His commandments .........WILL be saved ..........it is guaranteed ....so yes "All who call on the lord shall be saved" if they believe, and keep his commandments .......because the bible is also clear regarding what happens to those who deliberately carry on sinning after knowing the Truth - Hebrews 10

We agree - we are not saved by works! We are not saved by works t save you, there is nothing we as individuals can do to win Gods grace Again with Ephesians 2:8-9 - We are saved by Grace through Faith - or more accurately the greek word for faith and faithfulness is one and the same - we are saved by Gods Grace ........through remaining faithful....there is a prerequisite - and that is "remaining faithful: It has nothing to do with works however James 2:17 "So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough. unless (faith) produces good deeds, it is dead and useless" And finally Matthew 10 :22. @@DavidPawsonMinistry the Muslims are getting threatened because they are showing to the world that they've made a choice to serve Christ and that they belong to Christ. You've proved my point by your question. We are not forgiven because we've gotten baptized, we're forgiven because we've repented and believe that Christ paid our price by faith. Baptism is considered a work and we're not saved by works lest any man should boast ephesians 2:8-9. If Baptism saves or does anything then Catholics would going to heaven because they got baptized. Like I said, Baptism is encouraged but not a requirement. What about people who in the desert or in a place that wouldn't allow them to be baptized? They don't make it? Salvation is a gift by grace through faith Period. Baptism not required.

Dear David ......I have the deepest respect for you .....but come on Sir you cannot possibly be so immersed in scripture and end up saying that Mary gave birth to a sinful body this is synonymous with cult teaching .......they all deny his deity .....he became sin for us on the cross.........yes ......but if he was born with sin in his body then how was the sacrifice any different from any other sinful sacrifice. how was it redemptive how was he our substitute the essence of out faith is his perfection for our imperfection .......the whole of Christianity has absolutely no meaning AT ALL otherwise. The Holy Spirit had no necessity at all in by passing Joseph as the sin is in the blood lev 23 and the blood comes from the father ......what on earth was the point of the virgin birth .....my dear brother ......It is a completely different faith to genuinely state such a thing. Don’t the apostles clearly state he was sinless .........if his body wasn’t then he wasn’t ....now I am quite sure you were just not thinking clearly I know you believe the Lord was sinless........you also made a video saying that the church has gone astray greatly by making love the great issue instead of righteousness ......you rightly say the bible has much more to say about righteousness than love........this makes me tremble at what you are concluding in your latter years Sir. It may say more about righteousness but righteousness is not the great commandment exceeding all others love is meaning it has more to do with who god than anything else and walking with him requires that more than anything else.......true love will always be righteous but righteousness in many forms may not necessarily be motivated by love the greatest Christian virtue of them all 1 cor 13 I am nonetheless still deeply thankful for your immense contributions to studying the bible and you have done far more good than the things I am pointing out here .....it’s that these things cut to the very core of what we have hope in and what makes it eternally good news that’s why I am saying them.

daniel dunkley the key word for me is the LIKENESS of sinful flesh. Jesus was tempted but never sinned, so He had the likeness (weakness) of a human body, but it wasn’t sinful flesh because He never sinned. I believe David Pawson believes this as well and it is a wording issue.

Paul in Roman's and Galations makes it quite clear that our mortal bodies are sinful and will remain so. Our flesh is what we have to overcome in order to live according to the directives of the Holy Spirit. God wants to save our souls. Jesus was born with the same mortal sinful body all humans are born with. The difference is that Jesus was conceived through the Holy Spirit in the womb of Mary. So that he was born with a Godly nature and was from birth controlled by the Spirit. Jesus NEVER gave in to the sinful flesh dictates. So Jesus never sinned. We are not conceived by the Holy Spirit until we make the decision to give our lives to God and to become disciples of Jesus the Christ. So we have already built sinful structures into our very thought processes. That is why we need to be transformed by the renewing of our mind so that the sin, which is endemic in our very being, can be slowly eradicated from our lives.

@@keithkriel5204 Dear Keith I agree with so much that you have articulated very well. Nonetheless it’s the terms that are greatly troubling. One cannot be sinFUL and sinLESS. If it was sinful at birth who washed away his sin seeing that without the shedding of blood there is NO remission of sin Lev. If the Life of the flesh is in the blood as Leviticus describes then the sinfulness was in his blood. Who washed it away. Surely he was one or the other but cannot be both. If his body was sinful at birth then surely it was sinful at death obsoleting the sacrifice. This is why it’s a terrible error. If he became sinless through obedience as perhaps you are suggesting but was at one point sinFul namely at birth this is also an imperfect sacrifice. As the term sinful implies he had sin in him. As in Adam all die as in Christ all will be made alive Rom 6. He was virgin born and was not in Adam. If he had Adams sin nature then he also was in Adam. Obsoleting Paul’s whole argument. A terrible error my friend I wish no contention at all but all scripture rises to this climactic point that his perfection is what makes our salvation possible to tamper as an otherwise excellent Mr Pawson does here is astonishing for someone of his standing in the community of believers. it has no scriptural grounds at all. Learning obedience through the things he suffered in know way implies his body was sinful. I do hope you can see that it is in honour of his blood I reply not to create an argument. I would tremble for the soul of someone who think God perfect sacrifice was sinful at any stage. Romans 8 he came in the LIKENESS of sinful flesh and for sin condemned sin in the flesh. To be like something is not to BE something but represents it. His body was LIKE sinful flesh it was not sinful. If you got through that thank you for listening even if you can’t agree. I wish you a good night

Paul is *not* talking about himself in Romans 7, he was speaking in the first person to help his reader get into the mindset of a man who is a slave to sin. For example, if I had been Paul, I might have done a similar thing myself: Let's say I'm writing the book of Romans and I think to myself: "What would be a good way of saying this?" and before I know it, I-the Apostle Paul-appear to be claiming to be someone I'm not… Like just then, when I referred to myself as the Apostle Paul. Let me give seven reasons why I absolutely believe Paul is not talking about his present state in Romans 7: 1. Verses 8-13 are all past tense. The groundwork is laid for Paul to be speaking about his past, when he was dead in sin. 2. In verse 25 Paul says: "with my flesh I serve the law of sin." (the NIV translates it: "but in the sinful nature I am a *slave* to the law of sin."). Yet just two verses later, Paul says he has been *set free* from sin (8:2). Both of these cannot be true! 3. The "slave to sin" which Paul is describing in chapter 7 is becoming MORE sinful! Verse 13 says "become exceeding sinful" or "sinful beyond measure". In contrast, the Scriptures testify over and over that a disciple of Jesus will become more holy and righteous. 4. In verse 18, Paul says "nothing good lives in me"-this is a far cry from someone who has received the Holy Spirit and been "filled with the fruit of righteousness" (Phil 1:11). 5. Paul also says in verse 18 "I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out."-but over and over the Scriptures say that the Holy Spirit brings the ability to do good, as well as power and self control (eg 2 Tim 1:7), being "perfect and complete" (James 1:4) 6. This is a key one: in Romans 7, when Paul is describing the man dead in sin, throughout that whole passage he is talking about a man who is *under the Law*. (see verses 16, 22, 23). This proves that Paul cannot talking about a born-again Christian, because a born-again Christian is not subject to the Law, or any laws. A born-again Christian is subject only to the Spirit, and Paul spends half of Romans denouncing the Law's ability to make a man righteous. "Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law." (Rom 3:28) 7. Lastly, I know that Romans 7 is not talking about a born-again Christian, because it does not describe the saints in any way. It describes how we used to be. We who have been born of Heaven have been set free from sin. We did not achieve this by trying really hard not to sin, or by following religious rules. God achieved this in us when we repented, and gave our lives to Him, executed our flesh and set about following after Him. Those who have repented and are born again become a brand new person who is righteous and holy. Conclusion: false Christians use Romans 7 to justify their carnal nature by claiming that even Paul was a slave to sin. But this is a terrible and ungodly teaching, since Paul was not speaking about himself! I am not condemning Mr Pawson or calling him a heretic. I think he is a good and trustworthy teacher, but on this particular issue I believe he is absolutely wrong.

Paul says that Jesus came to save sinners of whom he us foremost. Just because we do not commit the action of sin does not mean that we are sinless. Paul understood this so he could say "no good lives in me" and yes he was talking about himself. In Jesus and only in Him, are we righteous. God imputes righteousness to us through Jesus alone, there is no righteousness in us.

The body of Christ is made up of Jew and Gentile. 5 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: 6 But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel Matthew 10:5-6 Matthew chapter 10 is about Christ sending out his disciples to the cities of Israel, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of heaven, and not the gospel that Paul preached which he received by revelation of Jesus Christ. Galatians 1:11-12 Paul's gospel was the gospel of the uncircumcision. Galatians 2:7 Peter was committed unto him the gospel of the circumcision. Who are the circumcision? The Jews/Hebrews/Israel, according to the flesh. Galatians 2:7-9 7 But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter; 8 (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:) 9 And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision. At that time there were two gospels, the gospel of the uncircumcision,(heathen/Gentiles) which was committed to the apostle Paul, and the gospel of the circumcision,(Jews/Israel)which was committed to the apostle Peter. The gospel today that saves both Jew and Gentile is the gospel that Paul preached. 25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. Romans 11:25 God for the last 2000 years has been calling both Jew and Gentile with the gospel which Paul preached, creating the body of Christ, a new creature, baptizing them by one Spirit into the body. 12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. 13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. 14 For the body is not one member, but many 1 Corinthians 12:12-14 26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Bible doesn't say Jesus was born without a sin nature. I know that is often preached, but it is not in the Scripture. Bible says that "He was tempted in all points like as we, yet without sin." (Heb 4:15). If Jesus could not have sinned, then He could not have become our Savior.

@@jilltilghman3027 Hi. And thanks for your question. Not many teach that, but there are a few of us who do. Personally, my understanding comes from such passages as this in Hebrews - "Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. 16 For indeed He does not give aid to angels, but He does give aid to the seed of Abraham. 17 Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. 18 For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted." - Heb 2;14-18 NKJV Verse 17 in the Jewish Bible reads like this - "this is why He had to become like His brothers in every respect." If Jesus could not have sinned, then how can He "aid us who are tempted?" What the Bible does say is that He never sinned, not that He couldn't sin. "Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need." - Heb 4;14-16 Both these passages tell us that the Man Jesus was "tempted." Now, "temptation" itself is not sin, but rather, if we fall to temptation then we sin. Jesus never fell to the temptations He faced throughout His earthly ministry, and because He didn't fall, even suffering because of the internal battles He faced, He was "perfected" on this earth, having been proven "worthy." "though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. 9 And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him," - Heb 5;8-9 (There is so much in this passage!) What few seem to understand today is that the Man Jesus did not exist before the baby in Bethlehem. It seems most teach that Jesus came down from heaven, became a baby, then grew to be a man again and went to the Cross. However, Jesus, Himself, told Nicodemus that that is not possible in John 3;4-7 Now, the Word (Logos) existed from the beginning with God in the spirit realm, and that "Word became flesh" (John 1:14), having been "born of a woman when the fullness of time had come." (Gal 4;4). But nowhere does the Scripture say that this human baby, born of Mary, was born without the ability to choose right from wrong. In Truth, the Man Jesus needed to be tested and proven before He could indwell, at the Resurrection, the "fullness of Deity in bodily form" (Col 1;19, Col 2;9) But until that day of His Resurrection, we read that Jesus was in the "form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in human form, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. 9 Therefore God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the Name that is above every name." - Phil 2;7-9 Sorry to go on like this, but I truly get excited talking about the mysteries of the Kingdom of God. If you're interested in investigating any of this further, I suggest to you this teaching I presented a couple years ago in teaching at our church. to-him-who-overcomes.com/greatest-gift Here I go a little deeper into what I have found in God's Word, to hopefully enlighten and encourage the saints.
