After a hard day at work, my wife and I sit back and let Rick transport us to all the beautiful and exotic places we’d love to see! It has become a life-enriching experience for us🙏 Thanks, Rick💛
In Rome do as the Romans do ; and the world does . The magic of Roma , the capital of history and culture of the ancient times .It still works its spell on modern travellers !
My last visit to Rome, and the most enjoyable, my wife and I didn't do any sight seeing and just enjoyed Roman culture, eating drinking and listening to music. It was fantastic.
I am Italian and from my perspective the world outside is very beautiful! We Italians have a saying in this case, namely 'the neighbor's garden is always greener!' It is a matter of perspective, when you are always in the same place you tend to take everything for granted, so it would be right to have a dynamic life, to travel at least two or three times a year, so as not to acquire that tiredness. in perception, always renewing one's gaze and perception spiritually, having a similar approach to children!
I traveled for other european cities like London, Madrid, Berlin, Amsterdm and Paris, but for me Rome is definitely unique. In Rome every stepwalk is a dip in the history of mankind, and you walk in streets and avenues from more than 2.000 years of history and enter in buildings who were part of the colossal Roman Empire. There is not a single person who is not hypnotized in front of the Colosseum, Piazza Navona, Fontana di Trevi or The Vatican............ For me Rome and Athens are UNIQUE for sure
Thank you! I'm from Rome (Pantheon Area, you've probably visited ''my'' monument); I'm glad that my city give a good impression for visitors. grets! :-)
These videos not only bring back delicious memories of my visit to Italy, but fill in the blanks of history which I had left out from my experiences. Amazing narration - respectful to local history and culture, without being boring for the viewer.
Italy is a sort of emotional rescue and therapy for the common american guy , but the representation on media is often full of stereotypes. So usually american people are far to understand the real italian culture . Mr Steves does his best work to improve the situation .
I love rome so much and especially italy, and that is one of the reason im taking italian language in my bachelor as my major❤️voglio vivere a roma in futuro🥰
I was fortunate enough to study and travel all the capitals as the typical “starving student.” Believe me there are ways to cut Rick’s budgets to the bone. I was very selective about the museums and a short train ride out from the historical centers of all these cities made all the difference in food and lodging. Your experience will be priceless if you learn the language. I look back and realize I did sell everything I could as well as sell a horse and a motorcycle. Beans and rice and rice and beans helped me save. Just do it.
A good rule of thumb if you want to avoid tourist traps in Rome: If a store, restaurant or cafe has ostentatious English signs or menus, avoid it. The best, authentic stuff, whether it's food, clothes, jewellry, pottery, etc. is found in places that are signed in Italiano only.
Thank you Rick! I followed your advice and popped into several churches while in Rome and the memories will last a lifetime! An organist practicing hymns, a Family preparing for a Matrimonial Mass with Red velvet Ribbons! And more! Thank You So much! FYI. St. Peter's Basilica is open at 7 am on Sundays. No lines anywhere, maybe 20 people in the entire Basilica!
Stunningly evocative. To think of how much more beautiful and prominent the colours and architecture would've been then without today's visual pollution is truly fascinating.
Dear Rick, Your clips are so amazing and fantastic that they can be perfect substitute of actual travel, especially for those of us who can't afford it. hence, with your wonderful episodes, we're keeping traveling :)
Does anybody else watch these travel videos knowing they will most likely never get to go to most of this countries & cities in their lifetime? It's a bit depressing, but also part of the fun.
Absolutely a tjme capsule of magnificent beauty far outweighing any modern city. Soemtimes u cannot out do the best when its alreadt been done. That is Rome.
Just a little nitpicking here: in the carbonara you must use the "guanciale" (from the pork's cheek and neck) and not the "pancetta" (from the pork's belly). It's more tasty and flavoured (and it has more fats), often seasoned with garlic and herbs, and it is left to mature for more time than the pancetta, so it's usually more crusty when cooked.
9:41 I lived in Rome for three years 20+ years ago and I can literally remember my first week there being warned about pickpockets on the 64 bus. I see nothing's changed!
Thank you. Such an inspiration. I am thinking of just getting a group together and only to visit the places you mention in this video. What a beautiful, Catholic, holiday. Thank you.
This was awesome watching 2019, we lost so much to barbaric Germanic tribes, they've been menace to Europe ever since. Romans were so skilled at ensuring diverse agricultural practices, artificial farming techniques, and food preservation methods, through Empire the use of raw material from every corner. Indeed, their relative success is indicated by the fact that such a scale of food production would not be seen again in Europe until the 18th century CE.
Went to the Jewish pastry shop in the ghetto. One of those delicious looking chocolate moose cakes will run you nearly 30 bucks and they only serve that type of pastry during Passover. I found all that out the hard way. Good stuff but not worth the inflated price tag which isn't displayed.
Josh Roake i'm from Roma and I must say that you are right. The pastries there are delicious but they exploit the quantity of tourists to make money. My family usually only buys a cake from that shop for christmas. So just 1 time a year haha
Roman churches are magnificent and well worth while to see the tiles are also great to view.Astra was another great c8ty which( is still being researched and history of the this city wonderful love area
how do you spell the hotel name? My Wife, Daughter and I will be visiting Rome this July, I have already picked up your guide books for Rome and Florence
I've been to the Jewish bakery...and everything is burnt:(. I was a kosher baker in Seattle, and I was super excited to try this place out. I was sadly disappointed by the quality of the wares.
This is the second time I watched this video. But the part of Ostia, I was not able to watch it properly. It was only now that I was able to watched it properly, and appreciate its history. Very informative video.
I remember 🤔💥🖤🙋 . Standing on a bridge in Rome at dusk, the first time I arrived there 👀🌌🌌🌌🌉✨✨ Bello ..🌌🌌🌌🌌🌌🌌🌌🌌🌌🌌🌌🌌🌌🌘🌌 🌉🌉🌉🌉🌉🌉🌉🌉 Luv the bridges in Rome r beautiful, & full of history .... Vibes 💜✨💜✨💜✨💜✨Ciao Roma 💋
Trastevere is interesting to visit but now way too many tourists go there. It's still nice to browse through all the little shops and enjoy local cuisine there but don't go at the prime time because all you will see are tourists packing the little streets.
I am traveling to Rome next summer. I have been to Amsterdam, Munich, and London, how will Rome be similar/different to those cities? I live in Denver, Colorado by the way. Thanks in advance everyone
