I had the opportunity to visit this marvellous church when I was studying in Rome. Once again also I had a chance to visit the place. Thanks be to God and to you for bringing to the surface of my mind all those wonderful moments in my life and chew for a while. Lourdhu Mary tamilnadu India
I loved this video! Such a wonderful tour. The church with the Apostles is quite beautiful. I could look in there for hours. The martyr deaths so interesting and so sad to know. The "live skinning" is too horrific to comprehend. The church with the stair, was the sculpture outside Jesus with Judas betraying with a kiss? Thank you so much for sharing this. The sky and clouds were. Just beautiful ttlhat day.🥰🥰
Thanks for the beautiful comments my friend. Yes, the statues on the right portrayed Judas Iscariot betraying Jesus with a kiss. And the ones on the left depicted Pontius Pilate declaring Jesus sinless before handing him over to be crucified. I'm sorry I didn't caption the statues. I hope you have a beautiful day
@@AmazingWalkingTourthank you. The betrayal caught my eye because it is so beautiful. I had a good day and hope you did also. Looking forward I reward to more videos. I enjoy them so much.🥰
I hate to introduce a note of levity but when I visited decades ago I saw a lady starting to climb/kneel up the holy staircase while (presumably) her daughter looked on and the younger lady was having hysterics at the sight of her mother doing it!
St John’s is the cathedral of the city of Rome. The pope is the bishop. The large chair that you passed is the seat of the bishop. His throne or Cathedra. That’s how we get the word Cathedral. Until the building of the new St Peter’s and Vatican City in the 16th century, this is where the papacy resided. I believe in the Acts of the Apostles after Judas’ death an election was held an Mathias became the 12th apostle. I never heard of him being replaced by Paul.
@@tomterrific4377Paul met Jesus on his travels to Damascus. Paul was sent to the Gentiles. Paul visited Peter. Please read your Bible! And there is nothing Holy about any of these buildings!
THESE ARE THE MEN THAT WE SHOULD ENCOURAGE, THEY OFFER THIER LIVES FOR US TO LISTEN TO THE WORD OF JESUS. WE CAN IMITATE THIER EXAMPLES ON HOW TO LIVE ACCORDING TO THE SCRIPTURE. PRAISE TO YOU LORD JESUS CHRIST MY LORD AND MY GOD.
Why? Christ never visited Rome, never went to any Italian territory. Did not speak, read or write Latin, Christ most likely spoke Aramaic, spoke and wrote Hebrew and probably understood some Greek which was pretty common all over the eastern med in that time frame. For Mithra-Catholics, Rome/Vatican is their Mecca but for true Christians, Rome and the Vatican mean nothing other than thats where the butchers of Christ came from
Grazie per aver caricato un video del bellissimo e magnifico interno della cattedrale. Ammira la meraviglia e rendi omaggio. Buon divertimento ogni giorno amici italiani!
Like 229 👍 Greetings from Naples, Florida. What a beautiful place! We enjoyed the sights, sounds and scenery. Thanks so much for sharing, have a great week. 💯
My family visited here The Holy Stairs, in April 2023 and for myself was the second time to revisit and climbed on it by knees, in Sept 2006 & April 2023.
I’ve been here numerous times and somehow never climbed the steps. It’s interesting that while I fully realize the stairs themselves and most of the relics in the chapel they arrive at are of questionable provenance the devotion and faith they inspire is not. I can celebrate the sacrifice Christ made or that the various relics celebrate without needing them to be the actual stair or actual piece of the cross etc.
la fe es base de nuestra existencia ,Sino hubieramos tenido principios por sobre todo principio ya hubieramos extinguido en un mundo materialistico y vano,
Was in Rome few days before you took this video and missed going to St John Lateran and the steps (didnt know about this 1) so many thanks! Went into 1 of the tourist trap cafes you walked by nearing the Colosseum where they refused to let us order at the bar and charged more than double at the table. (2nd or 3rd cafe before the road at Colosseum)
@@AmazingWalkingTour also missed going to Basilica of St Paul outside the walls, wonder if you have that. Dont worry about my comment of the cafe, was just for others to watch out for. Are you from Italy? Best wishes!
....covered in wood to protect them. It was very quiet like people knew it was sacred. I could not climb on my knees because of pain. It was the most humbling experience. Thank you for the reminder.😢
Unfortunately, there are people there are many people there who take advantage of the generosity and charity of others. People like this old lady strategically position themselves at religious sites and pose as beggars etc. I myself encountered this 'poor lady' shaking her tin cup and asking for money at the Santa Scala in June when I was there. I was quite taken in, but was wary also. But I decided to give her the bread in my bag that I had brought along for snacks. To my surprise, she looked at me with disgust and said very flatly 'thank you' twice with her hands gesturing me to stop and that she was not interested. Later on, I happened to meet a nun who shared that she never gives money to the beggars in Rome because most of them are part of syndicates who beg for money then collect it all and use it for their own purposes. She also said she's more than willing to give them food or help them out if they need a place to stay etc. But all she's encountered so far are people who just want money only and not any other help.. Even the nuns we stayed with regrettably warned us about pickpockets and beggars and how sad it was about how things were like this..
Who is that little lady asking for money. I'm not sure but is she a beggar? How can people just walk around and ignore this lady? I can't believe it. How can you record this walking tour and not care for this lady? Is that how Italian people is? They only care for themselves and touring and not look around for the needy. This is a very sad video for me!
How are you so sure that people are not giving her money. I didn't film her to show you if people are giving her money or not. I'm sure there are thousands of street beggars in your city but I'm not sure that your monthly income is enough to give to all of them.

The great American author Samuel Clemens, known to all as Mark Twain, said it best when he stated, "religion began when the first con artist met the first naive fool."
