Matt Eberflus called him the most impressive player at Bears minicamp and ESPN’s Courtney Cronin reports that Odunze has lined up at all 3 receiver spots and has shown the ability to run extensive route trees and absorb information. Free Agent center Connor Williams is reportedly going to sign with an NFL team before training camps begin per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Schefter reports that Williams is expected to be ready to play by Week 1 as he’s recovering from ACL surgery and that he wants to sign with a team soon. The Bears added Ryan Bates and Coleman Shelton at center, but neither are proven commodities + Teven Jenkins and Nate Davis both have injury concerns and Williams has the ability to play guard like he did for the Cowboys for 4 seasons.

If you listen to Rome (and his parents) speak you’ll notice that he’s really intelligent. I think he’ll pick things up very quickly. I think he’s gonna be a stud.

Overall, I'm very happy with how Poles has transformed this team. But I'm giving him some raspberries when it comes to the Center position. The past two years he's had a number of opportunities to either sign a damn good FA or take one in the draft, which also has had some quality centers coming out of college. And he's done neither.

In training camp Rome will be going up against one of the top-3 defensive backfields in the NFL, on a daily basis. If we hear stories of frequent success against them, the sky is the limit for this guy.

If Davis doesn’t get his shit together asap then I’d sign Williams and flip Bates over to RG. Shelton can be the back up. Kiran Amegadjie can be the swing tackle that will rotate around the line at tackle and guard

The good thing is that all 3 of our top 3 WRs can play any of the X,Z & Slot. Means we are covered for injuries and can rotate them based on mismatches and keeping them all healthy, especially with Allen's injury history the last couple of years. Williams simply has to follow the Purdy style of just put the ball to the open guy and let them go.

Harrison, if you give Williams a one year deal, with a base salary of 5-6 million plus incentives, how could you possibly have a cap hit of only 3-4 million, that makes no sense?

Maybe as a guard. Center is fine with Bates and Shelton IDK who the starter will be. Get Connor to replace Davis or as a Jenkins backup Guard. Give Connor a one year contract and you can possibly extend it if he plays more then 60% of his snaps and had a good performance. I’d get him but only if the contract has implications do you don’t get another Nate Davis situation.

Sign Connor Williams without questions. Exceed the salary cap this year. Our IOL is improved but still questionable. Cut Larry Borom and Travis Homer. Next year you can cut Nate Davis and slide savings into Williams slot.

San Franciso has another problem besides Aiyuk - over the next few years, they will be feeling the absence of the first round picks they traded away for Trey Lance. Basically, with the trade, they gave up 3 firsts, and got back a fourth. This, by itself, will have the 49ers get weaker over the next few years, considering that it takes most players a few years to reach their peaks. So three top shelf players at their peak are effectively removed from the team for the next few years. I think they are in for a slow decline for the next few years.
