If only the big movie corporations could get inspired by this... Sci-Fi Rome!!! Would make an amazing Movie/TV Show!! Can only hope...

It's insane that no one's made an alternate reality show where Rome never fell.

Peter F Hamilton wrote a short story about this. 'Watching Trees Grow' - where the Roman Empire began a breeding program to increase human lifespan and never ended. It follows a detective from an 'Old' family spending 200 years investigating a murder of one of their members, while the technology rapidly accelerates as society develops. From electric cars in the 1800's to Starships in the 20th century. Good story.

Like everyone is saying, "There is a gold mine of stories here." You need to give us a backstory on the culture.

If Rome never collapsed, and persisted into the 21st century, this is kind of how I would imagine it. Changes here and there to go along with the progress of technology, culture, and societal beliefs... But yeah, for the most part this is how I would imagine their armour looking. Still having some resemblance to their ancestors.

“So long as the Coliseum stands, Rome shall never fall.” Imagine if that were true.

15 or so years ago there was an MMO in development that was a "what if" Rome never faded out. Took place like 500 years in the future, space ships, robots and shit all with a Roman theme.

I'm getting huge Star Wars,Dune and Warhammer vibe from this, this is amazing

fun fact: Rome had blueprints to make a steam engine and had all the resources to industrialize, but it was too expensive, imagine though how amazing it would've been?

In 2005 Mythic Entertainment (the folks who make Dark Age of Camelot MMO) was producing Imperator, an MMO with this exact concept, a Roman empire that never fell and expanded into the stars. Sadly it was canceled.

So this is basically the Realm of Ultramar from Warhammer 40k. The home of Robute Gulliman, Primarch of the Ultramarines. This is what I think off when I think of Ultramar, a space Roman Empire but more stable and efficient.

It was simply a Empire that fully knew how powerful and important Art was, Art/Architecture is what inspires us to philosophize, inspire and celebrate positive virtues such as beauty and masculinity/feminimity and a testament to the human spirt.

Both terrifying, and entrancing at the same time.

Very visually inspiring work, not hard to see how a great script could make this work as an epic movie or I guess now with streaming, an epic series

It cannot be denied that Rome was, and still is, the greatest civilization ever existed in the history of man.

Mixture of Laser/Plasma technologies both projectile weaponry and swords from the humble Gladius to the epic Longsword and bastard variants. Armours upgraded to a more Imperial look plated areas that was once exposed along with War Coffins for thoughs that lost limbs are now bound to a eternal war machine fighting on fronts that still resist the Eternal Empire (Russia, China, UNAS, other humble countries but it is inevitable to all fall under Roman Law). This would make a nice SCI-FI movie a what if of history.

Someone should make a game based on this artwork. I don't care what story it would revolve on, but an alternate universe where the Roman Empire/Egypt/Japan, etc continued on, it would be fire. It'd be like the new Assassin's Creed.

The game Stellaris has a shipset and character names where you can simulate a Roman interstellar empire. Good 4X strategy game.

Computer animated film for the internet, an alternate timeline where Rome never fell. That the film is made by a man over 29 who likes history and the sum of everything led us to our current reality, and understands the importance of good scripts and dialogues for a film.
