I taught Steve when he was in the 7th grade in Meridian, Mississippi. He was one of 30 precious, smart kids. I was so pleased to see him perform in Decatur GA near Atlanta about three years ago. As soon as he saw me approach his table after the concert, he began quoting a poem I had had his class memorize. He said every word of it. What a treat for a teacher.

My mom loved this song! I remember her dancing to it when she was young and so beautiful. One day I was driving, so sad and missing her because I lost her last July. I turned on the radio, and it was the beginning to this song, that I hadn't heard in many, many, years. I felt like it was mom, reaching out and saying, "honey, I'm still here!" She was the best mom, I miss her so much. She joined dad who died just over a year before her.

As I am/ have been single most of my life, there have been plenty of envious moments of all the couples I pass on holidays, birthdays etc. But I don't envy your future missing her. I had just graduated from high school when this superb song came out. That summer, I had the great teenage experience of spending all my time with a wonderful, smart and beautiful girl from a neighboring town. This song was always on our car's 8-track tape player. We went to different colleges in the end, but I remember her fondly now almost 45 years later, and with her I remember this song. Thanks, Steve Forbert, for the song and for allowing me to recreate a very special time.

I had the pleasure of being able to watch Steve Forbert perform as the opening act for the Beach Boys at the Nebraska State Fair back around 1995. I had to tell my wife several times who he was and I knew she'd figure it out when he played "Romeo's Tune. The crowd was very rude to him and heckled him, which I thought was very unfortunate. When he played "Romeo's Tune", which was about the second to last song in his set the crowd finally started to appreciate him. Personally, I think his songwriting is incredible and "Romeo's Tune" is no exception. The lyrics have a mysterious quality to them and...oh yeah...did I mention that he's a damned fine singer?

Saw Stevie in 1979 at the Decade Lounge in Oakland section of Pittsburgh. Girlfriend heard of him, it was a great show. Talked to him afterwards, still memories way back in my head from concerts back then.

I just love this song, and always have since it first came out in 1979. I love watching this video. I like watching the band. They seem to be having a lot of fun performing this song.

Always been one of my favorite 1 Hit Wonders! The first time I heard it playing, back in the day at out local record store I asked the salesclerk what album they were playing. I just had to buy it, still have it today in my record collection.

There is no estimating how well "put together" this song is. It TRULY is timeless. Heard it one evening about a year or so ago on NPR. Someone covered it well. Wish I knew who it was, I'd like to hear it again. Nothing like the real thing though!

I was introduced to him by a friend in Meridian MS at a bar, he was different. Something he was on made him unable to carry on a conversation with me, but it didn't stop him from performing. I never forgot him.

Just found Steve again after many years. Seen him several times in 4th street New York. Can't remember the name of venue. That was 1983 and I was blown away by his sound and his songs. They are even yet as a 60 year old so very poignant and powerful. I love his voice. Been listening to him on repeat recently

I don't remember the year, but my son does a lot of photography of bands and Steve Forbert was one. This was/is one of my very favorite songs of all time ... it's so happy. He opened for Edie Brickell and my son and I went backstage between performances and talked with Steve and jammed with him. He was so terrific. He had young twin boys (I think they were boys) and was so proud of them. We had so much fun. He is a wonderful performer and person! Love ya' Steve - still my favorite song!
