Anya Theatre’s Romeo & Juliet is based on the timeless tragedy by William Shakespeare with a modern twist.
It revolves around the passionate and forbidden love between Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet, the children of two feuding families. Despite the enmity between their households, Romeo and Juliet meet, fall deeply in love at first sight, and secretly wed.
The play explores themes of love, fate, and impulsive actions. As the young couple strives to be together, a series of misunderstandings and duels result in a chain of tragic events, leading to the untimely deaths of Romeo and Juliet.
This enduring play is a poignant and powerful exploration of the intensity of love and the destructive nature of hatred, serving as a timeless reminder of the consequences of intolerance and hasty decisions.
