Ron Winchell, co-owner of Kentucky Downs and The Mint Bowling Green, was on hand to watch expected Kentucky Derby favorite Epicenter, as well as his unbeaten 2-year-old filly champ and Oaks leading contender Echo Zulu, undergo their last stiff workout at Churchill Downs. Winchell discusses a variety of subjects, including his late dad Verne Winchell, who started the racing and breeding operation. He also talks about the happy marketing coincidence that Epicenter was born and raised in Bowling Green, Ky., where Winchell has The Mint Bowling Green satellite historical horse racing operation and sports bar.
