ETH is like any mediocre manager in any organisation: when real talent joins their team they simply can't handle it. It doesn't mean that ETH can't manage 95% of elite footballers well, just that he's too stubborn to relax his system to accommodate genius.

This. People downplay the value of talent alot. If you get to pick between talent or hardwork, always pick talent. You cant get talent since its innate but everyone can be hardworking. Also the most successful people are both hardworking and talented

It is impressive and admirable for sure but it doesn't make you the best. His aim was to be the best but in the end you can only be the best you can be but then there is just somebody who has more natural talent and that is Messi. If you think Messi didn't work hard, you are very much mistaken. Messi worked incredibly hard to hone his craft.

All the drive in the world and still Messi will always be better. Ask Ronaldo, numbers don't lie. Non striker younger shorter slower and there's still no stats for what Messi has done. Talent beats hard work every time.

Messi can't. They should have laced that HGH with something to help with his nerves because in big games and at the PK spot he's a choker who pads his stats versus minnows. Ghosted in 4 Copa America Finals missing a PK to lose one and if not for Angel Di Maria he wouldn't even have that trophy and likely the WC as well where he ghosted in the 2014 one. I don't know what happened to him but after the 2011 CL game against Man U he just started not showing up in KO rounds and big games and just started choking. MIssed PK in 2012 against Chelsea cost them back to back likely CL titles. Your boy has all the talent a player could want but he's still a choker.

In the sense that they had to work hard to be there yes...but I don't think they were as "gifted" as ppl think, they developed the talent

I do understand what you're saying, but also considering that footballers basically have more money than God, the temptation to go out and party all the time or do things that wouldn't help his football must be great. It sounds really boring to be a footballer, you train, sleep, travel and play under huge pressure every week. So a guy who trains extra and spends his time and money ensuring he's at peak fitness rather than drinking champagne in clubs is still pretty admirable even if like you say to most people just sleeping and having massages would basically be a day off
