That voice! I've loved Ronnie since I was 6. I'm 52 now. Got me through good times and bad. She was singing when my daughter was born, and she'll be singing at my funeral one day. Love, love, love.xxx
Wow, even with the bad audio quality, this is right away my favorite version of the song! What dynamics! It really adds to the power of the song. Rest in Peace, Genius Phil! Long live the Wall of Sound!
This is an unbelievable find, always loved the Ronettes, and always liked the song by Charlotte. With today’s technology would it not be possible to clean this version up for release.
Ronnie's voice is perfect for the song, although so is Charlotte's. The background vocals were sort of extraneous, though, so it's nice to hear this version. I love these new discoveries; grateful to you for bringing them to the fore!
All the things you share are appreciated, but this one "takes the cake". Wow, everyone has wanted to hear this for years (and years). Thanks Anthony so very much.
what a find. Thnk you so much for helping bring forth this song to life.. Much appreciated and greatfull for all your finds and your channel brings such joy to many people thnks to Anthony
Wow! Belgium was the first to listen to it. :-) Well done. Keep on digging treasures. A beautiful record to end the day and to go asleep. Belgian greetings Anthony.
Extraordinary find. Jana is really pulling out all the stops on rarities . Really quite a revealing progression and drive. Even with the deterioration the chord structures are really quite clear. Ronnie's voice and production help bring the lyrics to life. Many thanks. Sad news of Phil Spector though. RIP.
Hi Anthony? There is a company called Teensville records who took a 1969 acetate of Connie Francis from her Tennessee session called "Old Records" and they remastered it. It sounds wonderful. The only other version of that song released is Kitty Wells and her original doesn't compare to Connie's at all. As for Connie's version.. no one heard it until a few years ago. The CD is called Left in the can 1960s stars unreleased. My question is can you send your acetate to them to remaster and get this song plus others remastered, saved and out to us all before they are destroyed and not enjoyed. Connie's was messy too and after the restoration it is really great 👍 stereo too ☺
I have an idealized Deuteronomy view of folk leaving house in city on purpose to share hobby farm. Seems Ronnie , “ softly in the Night” , subdued and gentle, might agree ‘this land is yer land, this land is my land’ . Turn, turn, Turn? State and County Treasurerer has to allow for travel expense to and from, shack and sewage bio-degradable?, Indian direction tree of peace? PRC Fuzzy St. John vs. Charles King and all the foolish gunplay notwithstanding, my part black, part Indian girl show me way to plant corn by hand.
Here's proof why Phil Spector loved Veronica "Ronnie" Bennett-Spector's voice so much that he made some recordings with her just for himself that he didn't want to share with other people. There are said to have been over 10 recordings, if not more, of which only 3 (Padre, Someday (Baby) and Close Your Eyes) are on the CD, "Everything You Always Wanted To Know About The Ronettes...But Were Afraid To Ask" , published. Close Your Eyes was also only released as a single in the Bonnie & The Treasures version. The original version by the Ronettes was only released in 2017. It seems that Phil recorded the vocal parts with Veronica in his own recording studio and then later mixed in the Wall of Sounds. That's why Veronica "Ronnie" couldn't remember pure studio sessions with the Wrecking Crew for some songs. Listening to Home of The Brave in its original version is a revelation. This version is better than the Bonnie & The Treasures version because Veronica "Ronnie" has the nicer voice.. Ever
Thank you Anthony. Veronica "Ronnie" spoke in an interview that she once sang "Home Of The Brave". She said that she was actually Bonnie; by Bonnie & The Treasures. Of course Veronica meant "Ronnie" by saying that she sang the original song but it wasn't released. It is also a tragic story of Bonnie And The Treasures, about the lead singer Charlotte Ann Matheny-O'Hara (she died of breast cancer in 1976 and was always afraid that the original version of Home of the Brave would be discovered because it had the stronger voice of Veronica admired "Ronnie" and wanted to have the same success, she also co-wrote some of the "Jackson 5's" songs, unfortunately she died far too early) Clydie King (she started recording with Richard Berry (Louie Louie) at the age of 13 to sing and became a much sought-after singer and background singer = the CD "Clydie King - The Imperial & Minit Years", shows a small insight + wall of sounds into her highly acclaimed work, she died in 2019). I couldn't find any information about Cherry Blossom online. I also thank Charlotte's daughter, who revealed the original version of "Home of the Brave" to the world.
Long rumoured to exist; here it is, shitty as it sounds. Ronnie, of course owns it with her earthy, direct approach. Love the Charlotte version and Jody Miller’s too; just a nice song. Now that Phil’s gone, maybe someone could locate the master (or finished version).
I've got an acetate (unrelated to stuff that you post) that's also got that same kind of "cyclical noise" damage, even after iZotope RX does its magic. I think because it was stored flat. Hopefully they release a tool one day that can deal with that...
This disc actually sounded worse if you can imagine. A bit of tweaking was done by an engineer but the deterioration was too far gone for what he had to work with.
@@AnthonyReichardt Somebody on a message board I'm a member of has improved the sound and says that he could do an even better job if you uploaded the inner and outer groove with the noise but before the music kicks in and after it stops. forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/an-amazing-rescue-from-history-the-ronettes-home-of-the-brave.1052098/#post-25978037
I have attempted some further restoration, this is a real challenge without the lead in and out grooves that would (hopefully) contain the surface/disk noise and no musical information: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AX4ZD8t1Jt4.html
With today's AI software, couldn't the hiss on the recording be relatively easily removed? There are people on RU-vid who do wonders with such software.
