@zhouwu
@zhouwu 2 года назад
@@ivo_bozeta_1 Oh! Yiddish in German is Jüdisch! It makes so much sense! In English, Yiddish just conjures up the image of Jews who settled into Northern Europe speaking a language somewhat a fluid mixture of German and Hebrew. But Jüdisch in German makes it obvious it is the language of the Jews, those who were exiled from the ancient Kingdom of Judah, ruled over by the descendants of king David and king Solomon, up until Jaconiah (Jeconiah?) and his brothers!

Beautiful song, incredible guitarist and soloist. However it was used as background for the incredibly shocking scene of liquidation of the ghetto in Shindler's List, a brutal contrast which makes me infinitely sad whenever I hear it now. I can't stop thinking about all the little boys learning their alphabet who never got to grow up.
@gspaulsson
@gspaulsson 2 года назад
I was in Kraków in that very spot during the filming of Schindler's list in 1993. This is Szeroka St., which was the centre of Kazimierz, the prewar Jewish district. The actual ghetto was on the other side of the Wisła. My mother and grandmother were survivors from Warsaw, my mother via Auschwitz, not far from Kraków. It is good to look beyond the horror, beyond the modern buildings and remember what was lost. My mother never got over her nostalgia for the Warsaw that was no more, and I inherited some of it from her.

@@gspaulsson Like lambs led to the slaughter. Just as Jesus went before them, so also, they follow. This will be my fate to come, as a Christian, but not a political Christian, but rather, a Christian who takes seriously Jesus's words about denying myself, taking up my cross, and following Him. God help me. God save me. And yet, for this I was born. May Your Will, Abba Father, and not mine, be done. If this cannot pass from me unless I drink of it, the cup my Father gave to me to drink, shall I not drink of it? Abba Father, Your Will, and not mine, be done. Amen. Thank You Abba Father. Amen. Hallelujah ❣️💘💞🎻🎹✅💯 May I praise You, even on the Cross! May I praise You, even while I'm dying! May I praise You, even while I'm suffering! Abba Father, thank You for recalibrating my lips to praising You, no matter what! Thank You for tuning my heart strings to praising You unconditionally! Thank You, Abba Father, for training me to be impartial when I'm praising You! Why should it matter how I'm affected? As long as my Abba Father is pleased, shall I not be pleased, knowing that His Will factors in the maximum joy and benefit of all? What others intend against me for evil, God intended for good, for the Salvation of a great multitude. May my Lord Jesus Christ, when He enters into His glory, remember me! My wormwood and my gall! The head shaking. The despising. The sneering. The mocking. Ach, my heart! My soul! My spirit! My inner parts flow out like water. My bones have melted away. All my joints are out of place. Oh, Adam! Adam! Where are you? Are you still at war against yourself? Do you not realise that you were God's own Body? But now, God is forced to excise out of His Body many members who are autoimmune, so as to leave only the Body of Christ. Ach, humanity, why won't you take the olive branch of the Gospel of the Kingdom God has extended to you, to us, that there might be glory to God and peace among men of God's good pleasure? Shall the bloody sword slay and slay forever? Today, I am a partisan of Jesus! If I'm to be struck down, may the world know that it strikes down a man because it is unhappy that he wants to stay true to the One who died on his behalf! May God sling out like the stones from a slingshot anyone who dares to get between me and my Saviour, my own Lord Jesus Christ, God manifested!

Omgosh 😞💔💔💔 I was only able to watch it once. So astounding on every level from its darkest reality to the sublime acting performances but I am still haunted by a particular scene. . .a Nazi was absolutely frenzied - and I do mean in the most diabolical, demonic manifestation - that included a fire. . .I'm trying to show deepest respect by not glorifying that scene, behavior or that ideology by not giving more detail. I will never hear that song the same way again but am very appreciative that you shared about it. 🙏🕊️

The young lady doesn't know any Yiddish; her pronunciation is full of mistakes. The beautiful and expressive Yiddish language should be respected and cherished. It goes without saying that it should be pronounced correctly, especially when it is sung in public. The young lady has turned a beautiful and traditional Yiddish song into a mockery.
@yesitshere
@yesitshere Год назад
While it's true she completely confuses the accents, traveling between an Avara (pronunciation) that is Russian to Hasidic and then Israeli, I do not take this as mockery. She works with what she knows. Feel free to point out how to read it correctly. Most likely the Hasidic one of the correct one, and it would be amongst others, Koomets Alef Oo.
