Speaking about Wo Long, its fair to say that they found the right balance of deflect and the other mechanics in combat with the dlcs, I'm talking about spirit attacks, martial arts and spells. They added more machanics to weapons too. I came back for the second dlc and was surprised by how improved the combat was, it just felt better even if deflecting was still mandatory most of the time you could actually feel like doing something with other attacks if you managed to find the right attack windows.

Your on Crack dude. Team ninja is killing it right now. There putting out 5 year games in 2 years something bo one else in the industry can do. Not to mention there releasing complete games that don't need 17 day 1 patches to make them playable

Im not on the same page as you, I LOVED Nioh 2 and really enjoyed Wo Long as well. Hopefully you enjoy Rise of the Ronin. I know I’m going to love it.

I hear you but combat is the main appeal of their games and they know their strengths and generally stick to it. But I enjoyed Nioh 2s story, music and levels a lot too. Overall thought it was just a fantastic game... Wo long was quite the step backwards

When did they make a bad game?, I've got over 1000 hours in Nioh 2 and 150 in Wo Long.

I don't know. Nioh 1 and 2 are fun games and Fallen dynasty is also decent, not great but decent.

This game looks closer to Wo long than to Nioh, I found the depth of combat refreshing in Nioh but I found the combat in wo long dull. If the combat is like wo long and there are no plans for nioh 3 than I am already done. I put close to 3000 hours into Nioh 2 and I am finally getting bored of it, so I am sad that this looks like wo long

It’s been in development since 2015 and we are getting the same old ass engine, barely any NPCs within specific scenes and even then you see them being rendered right infront of you. The combat and world is interesting and it’ll be a day one buy for me after I see reviews but definitely can see disappointment because it’s just ghost of tsushima but worse

the combat not to worry its the other things level design , balancing Difficulty, and not making it grindie. They can do better in these areas they just have to put in the work team ninja is very talented .

Wdym even their bad game is insanely fun and no one in industry make combat this fun, they just need to rid of borderlands type loot system and make good level design, i can easily saw them stand beside fromsoft if they fix these 2 thing

I agree 100%. I've played all of these games for hundreds of hours. Nioh 1 was the peak. Fresh and cool with great direction. Wo Long was a massive disappointment. Strangers was FF wearing the decayed watered down skin of Nioh. Nioh 2 was eh, solid, but nothing better. It was Nioh 1.25 I am concerned about Rise of Ronin. Open world is always a bad decision. More boring faux-stealth with collecting craftables. RoR seems to have taken too much from Ghost of Tsushima, Sekiro, and didn't learn their lessons from Wo Long.

Dont think team ninja has what it takes to do a compelling open world design. They even struggle to improve things they have experience with.

I think the only bad game they ever made was Ninja Gaiden 3

Stance Switch is what i enjoyed from Nioh's. Wo-long combat was simplified but i did like the parry system... both games story are trash to be honest. I'm hoping for complex combat mechanics again. Fingers crossed 🤞 😅

Yep, Wo Long is a stinker, Stranger of Paradise is simply below average ( but it has some fun parts ), Nioh 2 was a bit worse than Nioh 1 and Rise of Ronin.... doesn't excite me but maybe when I play it will change my mind....

The controls are Dumb AF.. WHY the FUK is Counter an Charge attack the same button.. it is 100% dumb. Block and counter should be the same button. That makes sense. But having triangle as charged Attack counter and assassinat is just Dumb and completely taking me out the game. To be quite honest I am absolutely hating the combat in this game. This have to lock on only thing really effective is perfect timed Parry that if you don't you end up doing a charge attack is just not doing it for me.. That is stupid from the start an will get boring fast.. having a must have lock on system in a game where you can end up fighting multiple opponents at once it's just stupid.. They should have took notes from Sucker Punch.. Sucker Punch did it all the way right with Combat on GoT with the Freedom and variety of the fighting.. But Team Ninja has no sence when it comes to the combat..

all i am hearing in this video is a skill gap issue going on...

Definitely not team ninja is easy 70% more better than the other devs out there I 💯 nioh 1&2 the only downside to nioh games is that I have finished them

What frustrates me the most with Team Ninja is their obsession with fast animations. Nioh 2 is faster than the original game. Wo Long is as fast as that too. It feels like there's less weight in each attack if all the animations are fast. The battles become visual overload really quick especially with how they implement lighting with excessive bloom etc. EDIT: Also, yeah, the story in their games.. They should really hire better writer and just completely tell a focused story , rather than focusing on historical events

I loved nioh 2 but wo long was a kick in the nuts. I really hope they take a big step back with their itemization philosophy... I'm totally fine without loot pinatas and having to sort trash like in borderlands.

They make good combat, bad everything else. Story awfull, level design mid. They have no talent for the things that matter outside of combat. Rise of ronin wont surpass nioh, i believe it will be under the lines of wo long. Wish them succes and prove otherwise

I liked wo long nioh 2 and stranger of paradise (except for the bahamut trials fuck those) not a fan of nioh 1 though despite many attempts at trying I'm looking forward to rise of the ronin personally but I'll add it to my ever growing backlog its not really that much of a priority for me unlike say DD2

Team ninja has been nothing since Itagaki's departure. Ninja Gaiden innovated. Everything TN does now is copy everyone else, and falls short.

Stranger Paradise was awesome in my opinion and first kinda souls like game I beat, even farmed until max item level as I enjoyed the game a lot. The dlc however is complete trash and waste of money.

Team Ninja re skinning like COD lol. Nioh was niceeeeeee though. Nioh 2 was ok. Wu long was ass, the final fantasy was ass too.

TN/TECMO decided to release this unconvincing looking game next to Dragon's Dogma 2. Think about this for 2 seconds. TECMO decided to release this next to DD2. It's bad enough this trash company hasn't released anything close to a great game since Nioh 1; but this is profoundly stupid.

I have played atlease 500 hr on all there game I don’t think they have balance problems . i play there game for challenge grind and combat I wish for better story and graphics but don’t care that much about it

Team Ninja's games are good on console, but atrocious on PC without a game controler, as they have no idea on how to manage keyboard and mouse command settings. and to make matters worse, they don't allow us to change or customize those keyboard settings. Since I'm a PC, keyboard and mouse player only, and since I like Team Ninja and just wind up donating money to them, for games that just collect dust in my Steam library. As an example, I couldn't even get passed the first tutorial mssion in Nioh, while trying to excape prison and I tried for 3 solid hours and who knows how many failed attempts, over and over again. To leap/roll forward or backward, Team Ninja decided that scrolling the middle mouse button was a great idea. LOL Rise of the Ronin will most likely have simular stupid keyboard commands that we the players, cannot change nor custumized to our liking.

Rise of the Ronin is not "their last chance" because both Nioh 1 & 2 sold well and were recieved well. One game from them (Wo Long) being mid doesn't put the company in jeopardy. 😂😂😂

I dislike this game so much, 75€ down the drain...I'm falling asleep playing it's worse then Wu Long and that was already a downgrade from Nioh. The combat in Nioh2 was amazing the combat in ROTR is terrible they are trying to be 5 different games at once and none of it stands out...

Anyone who thinks Nioh 1 is superior to 2 should have their option immediately discarded.

I agree theyve shit the bed with the last couple games. Especially compared to Nioh. The open world is what worries me the most. Team Ninja absolutely blows at level design. Strangers of Paradise being a true low point.

There is no loot in this game so far which will already be an improvement over the worst parts of Nioh. Though there's still many ways to fuck it up. It is an open world game and they could do something stupid like making enemies 3 levels higher than you taking 1hr to kill.

nothing new in this game some elements from nioh and wolong and some from sekiro and GOT, also the graphics and movement animations look worse than their previous games

Team Ninja games for me: Combat - Great, with the caveat that sometimes you will get one shot, or feel cheated due to jerky enemy movement and lack of telegraphing. Level design, graphics, story - Garbage Cant get into a game if everything outside the combat is trash. Step it up, TN. BTW, have you played Ninja Gaiden Black? That was Team Ninja at its peak. Much better combat than anything in NIOH Imo

Kinda seems like TN’s games just aren’t for you then. Bullshit unfair difficulty is a key part of the Nioh experience IMO. I’ll take multiple NG+ cycles over an enrapturing story any day, especially considering that each NG+ cycle shakes up enemy placement/variety/moves. Just look at the endgame content for all their games, it’s always some absurdly long gauntlet that you can work at for months. IMO Nioh and Wo Long are fighting games first and exploration/story games second.

honestly it looks like a solid game and more grounded without all the monsters demons etc im guessing a game closer to ghost of tsushima but w their level layout design hopefully this game improves on stuff overall but i do expect the grind and level design to be there on some baseline level also stranger of paradise dlc and updates have improved it alot

This game has been their best since nioh 2 for me. Combat is back at peak, story was awesome. Wo long combat was terrible, strangers of paradise, terrible. Boss fights are challenging

Releasing this game on the same day as Dragon's Dogma 2 just proves how insanely tone-deaf they are about how to manage your business in this industry. Do they really believe that another attempt at a new IP after years of trash releases would be able to stand up against a game that people have been begging for over the course of the last decade? I never paid them any mind at all because none of their games seem interesting to me, but the decision to release this alongside DD2 just proves that they're inept.
