And the most genuinely relaxed and centred. My mate is a freelance TV producer and he had to oversee quite a few interviews with Ronnie at The crucible back in the day (He used to get me in free of charge as well, which was the nuts!) but Ronnie wasn't always the easiest person to interview in those days, lemme tell ya! He's at peace and untroubled now. Best player that's EVER lived. End of!
@@shaundstone yes I can imagine him being a pain to interview but he's always told the truth & people don't like it....free tickets that's great, but yes this interview was special from him 👍🏽
A man who's in a very good mental place. He seems so relaxed. Great to see him like this. When he's focused and organised he's untouchable. Good luck Ronnie
6 world titles / 20 triple crowns in nearly every era of snooker can never be compared to anything in snooker! The guy keeps on delivering and took snooker to the highest level! England Should Be Proud to produce one of the all time great sportsman
@@rolandtomassi3486 response is yes agreed that's one of his more sensible interviews but its also great to see his character and personality when he does his not so sensible interviews. Either way whichever Interview he decides to give he's still the best and most naturally talented snooker player there will ever be. He's on different levels.
I love where he’s at mentally now. I’ve been a Ronnie fan from day one and it was always a struggle to watch him play, when he was clearly battling demons. The game won’t be the same without him once he retires. I’m kind of dreading the day! But from this interview and others, I’m glad to hear he has no plans to stop any time soon.
sounds like he loves to play a lot still, talking about how he wants there to be tournaments all the time all year, so it's hard to see him wanting to retire any time soon. Great mentality/attitude about everything, wish more people in sports were like this
I'm not a snooker person, but I have often loved to watch great matches on YouRube. Ronnie O'Sullivan has been amazing to watch, and will be for as long as he decides to continue. It's nice when new stars come up, but Ronnie is my favourite. This interview also shows him to be a very nice, humble and realistic man. A great interview!
I can listen to this snooker genius every day! Rooting for you Ronnie, hope you can get into the mood and go all the way to the final, and then win it!
i love the way ronnie sees life and the way he sees snooker as just a game without pressure and just a sport. he's done everything in the game and the game has benefitted from ronnie as well. i don't see ronnie wasting any years in snooker because i don't think he would still be playing now. much like stephen hendry was finished in his mid 30tys
it's probably alot easier to see the game without pressure and just a sport when you've made your millions playing it though. the guys working part-time bar jobs practising 7 days a week are the ones with the pressure on them - only ever a couple of losses away from dropping off the tour!
According to Ronnie he can't afford to retire, and I suspect much the same applies to Higgins. There isn't the money there used to be when the likes of Davis and Hendry were dominating. Even Dennis Taylor is richer than all the current players on tour. Also, as you get older the worse you deal with pressure, because you know there's going to be fewer opportunities to do well in tournaments. Ironically one of the best tournaments I ever had was when I came in with no expectations and felt somewhat defeatist coming in, but because I didn't particular care as to how things went. I didn't buckle under pressure and make mistakes like I would in the past.
@H No, the top players 30-40 years ago made far more money due to the amount of opportunities to make money off the table. Snooker was the number 1 sport in the 80's due football being plagued with hooliganism and dilapidated stadiums. Snooker was in decline for many years at the turn of the century and has only began to make some form of resurgence thanks to growing interest from the far-east and people from countries where snooker has no presence access to streams via social media. The only question I have is when will the Worlds move to China and what will be the long term effects.
Love this lad always honest and straight as a dye I’ve watched many of snooker player over the years and ronnie will always be my favourite just in front of the whirlwind
Totally agree with you. We speak to Ronnie each year in York, he & his group are always very polite & friendly. Also, I too am a City fan originally from Wythenshawe. 😄👍
What a guy, makes me very happy to realise we have many more years of watching him play. Brilliant job to get to the place he's in now, makes me uite jealous hahahaha.
The greatest sportsman we’ve ever had in our country. Also a top bloke without any to prove anymore. Love to see him win it again and beat Higgins in the final !
Does anyone notice how Ronnie is a totally different person depending on what platform he's being interviewed on. He's like two different people on BBC and then eurosport
I love how he's not nit picking on debatable negatives for once and how he is actually appreciating some of his own mastery. A relaxed Ronnie is an extremely dangerous sky bound rocket. If he keeps that same mentality and stays concentrated he will win number 7. I hope he does.
I fail to see how some would accuse him of being arrogant. He has been gracious and down to earth whenever I've heard him speak. Best of luck Ronnie - go for it.
Huge Ronnie fan here and in this interview he was great and down to earth but he's deffo been arrogant in the past, just keep watching old interviews and you'll deffo find him being arrogant, a total genius but his head hasn't always been in the right mode for after match interviews sometimes
Go listen to him when he was younger. Young, Dumb and full of cum. He was the best and he knew it, he knew he could get away with pretty much anything he wanted. Hes got some wisdom and grown up a lot. Hes also a broadcaster now, not just a pro.
@@davebryant6905 You can’t be arrogant when you’re the best ever. You’re as good as you are acting. Also any lewd gestures have always been aimed at himself. So why are you bothered about that and how does that make him arrogant or a prick?
He was in my town the other week with paddy the baddy on the piss. Good lads. Ronnie is relatable. We all feel like we know him because he's always been so down to earth and normal. Legend ✌️
you are so lucky! My closest rub with snooker fame was being a spectator when Cliff Thorburn gave a snooker demonstration at Queen's University (Kingston, Ontario) in 1977, I think. I was fascinated, even though I had never seen a snooker game before, and thus started watching snooker on tv in the late 1980's, and even played some in a local snooker hall ... very poorly!
So honest! The interviewer was pushing it so hard but Ronnie said it all: "Playing for the fun not for the win". That's a pity for spectators though. Hope he gets back on his feet and motivation to kill every shot. Otherwise it would be painful to watch him lose with silly mistakes while he can't care less about it. It is like a torture for his fans while he "enjoys" the games.
I come away from the interview with a different impression of Ronnie. As pool players, we must address our demons and the mental aspect of the game. Ronnie has at times been ruled by his demons and I feel now he has concurred the mental aspect of the game and is enjoying just playing. He is enjoying his financial status and security and is in a great mindset with his personal life. I wish him the best and many more years of happiness and success on the felt. Enjoy your life Rocket!
He cares. He just struggles sometimes and we always expect God mode. Undisputed G.O.A.T. anyway. I have a good feeling this year, think he's going to do it.
Refreshing interview! He's in the right frame of his mind from the way he's speaking, not the cheeky style of interview he usually gives away when he's a little off in the head! Focused, determined and certainly a force to be reckoned with in this year's tournament! And he looks clean, shaved! I noticed when he's haggard looking, he doesn't go far in tournaments but he's looking really sharp now! My interest in snooker will slowly die without him in the game, how sad! Come on @Ronnie O'Sullivan! Give the world another World Championship in your name!
Like the Tiger Woods of snooker, has so much appeal for the casual and fanatic fan alike with his skill and personality, and nobody will ever come close for many years to come…
I would say sullivan has been excellent for a longer period than tiger, although tiger was great for about 14 years so that's pretty good in his own right
Experience builds character, and what a character he has become. I really want him to win it again. I think his biggest hurdle will be Neil Robertson who had been playing superbly this season. Good luck Ronnie!
@@Woody991 They will meet in the semis if they get through. And Selby should meet Trump in the semis too. It's normally planned so 1 and 2 meet in the final, just like Wimbledon.
To be honest...age doesnt matter..its simply number...I think you should go on continuing this passion...Bacause Ronnie may regret after couple of month if he leaves playing..And snooker is such a game..if you start giving up..the tricks and skills goes on vanishing..Its on you..What you think...Naveen paudel from Nepal.Ronnie sir..my wish is can you do lowest clearence..Becoz No one did it before.
Ronnie, is in a really good place mentally. That's great to see. Dave Gilbert is a great player. It's a good match up. Good luck to them both. Both good lads. PS ... Bring back doubles snooker! It was great fun.
What? One of them has to lose ???? That’s not fair , sport can be cruel sometimes , I herd you get jammy doggers in your shoes if you lose, John parrot told me when I met him in Iceland near the frozen fish /peas . I said what? Mr parrot , that seems odd and he said “well fuck off then if you don’t believe me and pass me some of that breaded cod, parrot loves cod , who a pretty boy then”. What a loverly guy , not many people know this but Mr parrot never lost a snooker match , ever .
Oi , piss ant. I play at gateshead snooker centre with , Wilson , Ashley and lilley . Put Your money where your Mouth is and get down for a frame , alternatively I’ll come play you , just make sure you ask your mum though so your aloud 👍
@@iblacka1 Hendry started to ease off the practice in after his 7th worlds, and for the last few seasons simply turned up at tournaments, still held a top 16 place like that. His comeback has been poor for the same reason, he won't dedicate himself to the game as he's got buisness and media commitents to mention a life to live. All of O'Sullivan, Higgins and Williams found their games slipping late 30s, however they took on new methods of coaching and sighting and have recovered and gone on to return to the top. Hendry never did this.
I've always been a tennis fan. Before 1994 I thought snooker was boring, then I saw Ronnie play. I've been snooker loopy ever since Win or lose Ronnie is an amazing sportsperson.
`I`d love to win it!!` In fairness we`ve probably not heard that from Ronnie in a long time. He usually says he`s not bothered etc.. That tells a story....He`s up for this one. Great interview, a dangerous Ronnie this one!
He really demonstrated that mentality in the final. The old Ronnie might have crumbled after Judd dominated session 3, but he just came back and finished the job. Number 7, get in there!
