Watching Ronnie playing snooker is a beauty and playing against him is a dream come true, great to see Michela and John virgo to refresh old memories of snooker ❤️
This video is an absolute treat for studying Ronnie’s cue action! I’ve been to several tournaments and saw him last year at an exhibition similar to this, but this video probably even tops that for really seeing what’s really going on, especially at slow playback speed. Wish tv coverage wasn’t always so focussed on the object ball but had more angles like this…
Congrats Steve for all your effort during your journey that brought you to that day...to be able to play against the rocket. Cheers from Cyprus. Keep up the good work pal!
A Huge Thank you Steve for sharing this. I Love Ronnie. Just mesmeric to see him work round the table and an absolute professional. Glad you got to meet and play him 🙂
lol Me too. A mate played him in an exhibition like this and got spanked, too. :) I'd be a bag of nerves and wouldn't be able to hit a pig's a$$ with a shovel. Shame you didn't get to get your hand on the table proper, Steve. Happens all the time even with the pros.
What an upload, we even had the great John Virgo asking where the white ball was going. A great lesson on how to play snooker with the greatest on earth. Respect to Mr Barton to get the occasion organised. For all the tutorial work Mr Barton puts in. Great upload👍✌️
Love your sense of humor at the end! Would have loved to see you with just one chance to clear up the table ;) thanks for all and congrats for this moment with Ronnie, Steve!
Lol loved the Stan Laurel-like expression staring into the camera at the end there. Been looking forward to this upload and disappointed that you didn't get a chance to get in among the balls yourself but what an honour to play the best snooker player of all time and one of the greatest sportsmen that the UK has ever produced.
He's so fast around the table but his cueing motion is pretty slow and precise on all his shots but the final yellow. Looking forward to a breakdown vid of his action as this gives clear footage of everything.
Good man going against The King and not pass out ;)))) Amazingly after 40 years in the game AND watching your coaching i've realized that one of the MOST IMPORTANT thing in the swing is the position of the SHOULDER of the bridge hand towards the CHIN.... i do realize i do it pretty "ok" myself ... just never realized how much that has to come into teaching this game for straighter backswing AND of course straight, longer and even smoother follow through.... somehow this video woke me up towards helping others in a small yet MASSIVE way to simplify the comfort of what a snooker cue action is. Thx buddy...
I wondered why it took so long to upload ;-) Just joking Steve, clearly no shame in losing to 'The Rocket'. At least he gave you a DOUBLE double tap on the table for recognition of a safety shot you played early doors... Watching him clear up was poetry in motion but I'm sure had it been a best of three you would have come out victorious! 🏆
Shame you didn't get the chance to showcase what you can do, Steve. Love watching your videos and I can't wait for end of May for my lesson with you! Keep up the good work mate!
Isn't the shame just yet tho.. 1st..Ronnie missed the pot on a first red at top right corner,he got little bit of luck.the que ball stuck up with the ball on a side, steve can't get the shot and he play sort of a weak safety, probably he underestimated on one red ball near top left corner pocket so,Ronnie pot that ball and win the match
Enjoyed watching the game Steve, makes you realize the skill, half a chance game over. You've done the same to players yourself ....Top class content pal...
What an honour to play such a legend Steve!! You should be proud of yourself...a moment to cherish for all your life. I guess the butterflies in your stomach kicked in on the break off...but there wasn't much that you could've done differently really!! He's such a genius, a perfectionist and makes this difficult game look so easy. When he's in the zone...it's just Magic!! Well done mate and keep doing what you're doing as you are helping a lot of players!!
Hi Steve- great to see the number of likes & views on this video, so good to raise your profile. He is the GOAT, you're the best coach... keep up the good work 👏
I could only dream of playing Ronnie O'Sullivan. Unlucky to leave that half chance but Ronnie did what Ronnie does best. Still you gave it your best and even though he cleared the table it must have been an honour to play Ronnie. Great video and keep up the good work!
Just looking at Ronnie’s body language at the beginning. He obviously knows exactly who you are and has a lot of respect for you. He doesn’t show that to everyone. It wouldn’t surprise me if he watched all your videos to be honest - he is a big snooker fan after all and they are all great videos! So awesome to see this one!!
Great upload Steve ,but it doesn’t matter who you are and how good you are ,playing Ronnie in a one off frame you have the pressure on every shot knowing it’s probably your last one .Ronnie does that every night against some of the best club players in the country reeling in centuries on any table ,a legend of the game for sure .Where was that exhibition played Steve ?
I really do feel your pain, but at the same time it's kind of a perfect clip, a text book clearance from Ronnie, as you'd hope for and expect, and I know personally I'd rather be on tape getting flogged by O'Sullivan than have footage of an evenly scored scrappy encounter where you couldn't be 100% sure he'd respected you enough to have given his best. I hope you get what I'm trying to convey, love the videos, they've definitely improved my game so please keep 'em coming! Cheers
Steve you are a great comedian, that few seconds of cricket sounds after the game with Ronnie, CLASSIC. No shame losing to him, I hear he's quite good 😁 Not many people can say they played the Great Rocket Ronnie O'Sullivan
Steve you face back at your snooker room had me in tears,,,you cant really play against that can you,,,still at least you have now got bragging rights,,well done my mate,,Tony Rentokil.
Ronnie is an absolute Genius so it must have been great to have had that match against him but can u do a vid telling us what it was like to face such an icon of our beloved sport and how nervouse you felt or not maybe and what u felt he was like to be around....Fantastic
I'll be honest Steve. That red was over the pocket ish and the safety was about 7 inches too short, it was sayonara after that. The best player that ever picked up a cue cleared the pattern lovely. Thanks for sharing your great experience with us, quality content as usual.
Mickaela Tabb was a bit rounder there lol !! Ronnie the legend doing what he does best and be proud you had the chance. And your face after !! Priceless !
Losing a frame to anybody is a no shame. Just a game, failure makes you perfect your technique.. Steve played few shots but all were very short of pace. Steve grip doesn’t allow him to go through as Ronnie or other pro players. In pressure match play these technique faults are magnified, and also the best time to analyse your game. Game technique gives you confidence and helps you play smoothly without fear against anybody. Not criticising anybody, just giving my opinion. Thanks.
Great to see a legend play a frame… against Ronnie O’Sullivan 😉 Absolute poetry in motion from Ronnie tho, makes it look effortless 😅 Thought that red might go in the middle when he split the pack and Steve would come back and clear up but it wasn’t to be 🤷🏼♂️
Ronnie did what Ronnie does. It is an exhibition and, with respect, the people come to watch him. An honour to share the table with him. And Michaela - how good to see her again, the best referee going around. A great loss to snooker.
Hope you’re not too demoralised. Perfect timing as I was wondering if you could analyse Ronnie left handed. Does his cue remain under his “dominant” eye or is it different. And whichever what does this tell us about the dominant eye/cue alignment theory. Hope you can address this. Great channel
Not demoralising to be honest. You're just playing the best player that's ever played (in my opinion). Ronnie still cues under the same eye when he's playing left handed 👍 I'll look at that in the future. Good video idea 🙂
Just one average safety, and the game is over. This is the reason every single shot matters. BTW, such a big honor. Not everyone is qualified to play vs. Ronnie.
You didn’t really make a mistake Steve, maybe slightly short on the white with the safety. Nothing you can do about break building like that, just watch and admire.
Watching master craftsmen of any stripe is a joy. I would love to be in a match with either Ronnie or Efren so I could watch them whup my butt. Kudos for getting there, Steve.
