Once again Ronnie O'Sullivan is amazing especially when you slow down his game Ronnie O'Sullivan keep up the good work I cannot wait to hit the lottery so I can go to the UK a look forward to meeting you please keep up the good work you are truly amazing
Constructive criticism for Tom Ford: Have them turn up the volume on your microphone AND speak clearly into it with some enthusiasm. Don't repeat yourself too much. Half of what makes snooker great is the quiet between shots :)
Alright, so everyone was on their case about it... and I quite like it, and especially because it's (a little) different; don't know if I'm mistaking in the first impression.
The whole “you wouldn’t think those 2 shots are in the same frame” comment is just absurd. Ronnie played the roll up break to wait for an opportunity, he saw a small one and went for it?
It's like he's trying for a cross between Clive Everton's intelligent commentary and Sid Waddell's stupidity. He's not as bad when he's paired up with Neal Foulds. Foulds takes over and Yates doesn't get as many chances to speak.
I completely agree; he might be a very nice man but commentary should not be for him. His lack of sincerity and love of cliches could drain the inspiration from even the most inspirational.
Seen a few comments about the commentators. To be honest, I think the best ones have been the "classic" ones on the BBC: John Virgo, Willie Thorne, Dennis Taylor, Ray Edmonds. Could never stand Clive Everton, though. I think Stephen Hendry, Ken Doherty and John Parrott are the best ones of the new commentators in recent years.
@@deepskymike767 I don't disagree with the main 'commenter' but I especially agree with you .. he is an excllent commentator, imo, very knowledgable, truly watches what is going on - seldom if ever makes crap comments, funny and a good pitch of voice.
And BTW... nobody - and I mean nobody - can get 1.1 million views for a best of 4, dreary, non consequential match, than Ronnie O'Sullivan. Box office gold.
There is a guy in Australia who plays like Ronnie, fast, outrageous shots, not quite in the same league yet, but makes plenty of centuries on his practice table, his highest break is only 99 in competition, hence his name Mr 99! Lol
Remember quinten hann from Australia. He was extremely outrageous. Used to whack the ball good on a break. He was the one who got banned for match fixing
@@garethlloyd1445 He then started a fake investment company and lost his clients millions and got banned from financial services. He's just a right little twat. That's all he is.
A vital weapon in O'Sullivan's arsenal is creating a stinkingly foul atmosphere in the room when he's in a bad mood. I reckon it puts everybody on edge.
Yes, Ronnie is no Gentleman in this Gentleman's game. He has a distinct lack of sportsmanship that I'm seeing more and more as I watch more and more. He's still the GOAT but....
@@justtowatch111 Meow. He is like MAGNUS in chess: is in a bad mood if things don't work perfectly but plays to the rafters and beyond, to heroic levels few humans get to enjoy.
@Supkis, actually throughout his career, more often then not, players used to beat him by breaking down his (idea of the) concept and letting him self-destruct. Ronnie is a, proper, self-centered wanker... and one of the best snooker players that's ever lived.
Yates has to be the most irritating commentator ever. Even the most routine of occurrences is narrated in breathless terms, often with an Australian rising cadence at sentence end. Hopeless.
Youve obviously never heard rob walker commentate on the snooker. I took a subscription with eurosport last year to get away from it. Just talked about a players history non stop.
Ronnie feels pressure these days and people like Selby never misses the easy balls he misses under pressure. Ronnie is starting to overthink easy shots these days.Whenever you see him overthinking when there is an easy break on just know a miss is coming as you can sense it.
@@kendalbeaupierre yeah he has always missed odd balls but more now by far.selby misses too but less often he is going back though as getting older too so will tell on long game
I think they use this event as a test platform for future commentators, Peter Lines was commentating yesterday and I think he's quite good. Tom Ford did this game and I think he's a bit mumbley but still very knowledgeable.
@Blah Blah I don't think that's strictly true. The last ten years or so has seen the game get a kick up the arse. It went from 6-7 tournaments in a season to 25-30 and the sponsorship has also got bigger.
