nailing 6/12 common and hip blocks as well as straight commons....chalk a line up the jack and away to the races..no need to measure the center of each truss
Thanks for the nice words. As someone starting out in construction today you have so many more resources to pool from. I say use them all. I use to take out library books and go on contractor talk forums to seek out ways of doing things. If you're hungry for info you can fast track your learning and advance yourself in ways others are not prepared to
I'm going to let you know if you keep on uploading regularly with good quality content such as this, your channel will be blown up with as many views and subscribers as The Crazy Framer's channel. Love the videos man.
We most commonly use accurite housing system truss es which employ a layover style hip frame, interesting to see what it takes to manually rafter a step-up and finger style hip system.
Hey Adrian. Am very proud of you Litle brother you were always a great. Kid since the star with your career. Nothing but love for you by the way. You will know who is this. There’s no reason. To say much. Your first armando. Is awesome. To see you kiling it keep it up
Omg you're alive!!. I owe you a bunch because before I ran into you I was on the verge of burnout and framing wasn't fun anymore. 2004 was awesome 👌 thanks for pushing me. I'll never forget your movie quotes and making short jean shorts great again 😆. Hope you're keeping well
You trust those toe nails more than me. Hell a couple times you kneeled on boards that were only nailed on one side. Thank God the world needs cut men too haha.
Yeah you can appreciate how fast he is moving if you ever tried to walk on trusses. If I could be even half as fast I would be already faster than anyone on our site lol.
Awesome m8 lovely watching a skilled tradesman at work I keep laughing imagining the face of our British site agents if we could walk on roofs like you chaps and with no scaffolds😂😂😂we get red carded off site just for walking the wall plate but keep it up m8 stay safe. 👍
lol, the background sounds at 5:24 are great! A contractor sees a hot girl and makes a sound, then a passing vehicle noticed the hot girl and gave several beeps…… then u hear the work vehicle backing up!!!! So typical in a day on a construction site! 😂
Fantastic tradesman! When you want to slow down you should become a tradeschool teacher!!!!! Share you're talented skills even more you're legend Adrian all the way from down under Australia where are codes don't have nothing it common im a sparky here but work with my old man who is a builder/plumber two if three licensed trades here electrical being there third licensed trade.
Over the Xmas break I posted a tips and tricks vid on figuring out the blocks with the construction master calculator. Basically enter 22.5 inch run, enter pitch (in this case 6 inch pitch., Then push diagonal. Then push convert then irregular pitch angle and then hip again
Ive been tinkering with the go pro tilt angle...not quite right yet...on this video I was trying to show the overall straightness of the hip lines but didn't accomplish that but no luck
Around here the truss company would step down those top chords on the hip trusses, and they would make a lay down truss to set across the top chords. Real easy.
I think you might be referring to what we call purlins. We get them time to time depending on the truss manufacturer...I believe Turkstra lumber is in love with that style. I don't really have a preference either way
@@framingbeast720 i believe we actually call them "hip lay-on truss". I always request those. Way faster and easier. Just set trusses and lay the hip truss on. Done. No cutting or anything.
Bloody hell long way down if you slip. How do you fit soffit and facia without scaffolding. And looking at all the wood your using no wonder we can't get any in England haha
U guys frame a lot differnt than we do, but proper nonetheless. We apply osb and neopor sheathing as well as air barrier while walls are still lying flat on the deck. Same with Gable ends, Gable flies up on a boom fully sheeted with birdboxes or eyebrows already built. Framing is a tough job that takes a specific type of fool to stick with.
I respect you wanting to go fast and all, I used to be the same... but one day you're gonna get injured if you keep going like this. Its better to keep a smoother constant pace, you make less mistakes and you keep a clear head avoiding accidents.
@@romanorapido6561 I wouldn't be surprised if he had that rhythm all the time. Like I said, I used to be the same but after 2 accidents and getting burned out I understood it wasn't the way to stay healthy!
@@GabRock91 well just nailing it is easy when u have a buddy to hand everything and all u need to do is shoot it,, and i havent nailed a part of my hand yet,,
dont work like that. at least not for me. one speed, if i try to slow down i loose rhythm. working like this is kinda like a runners high you have to maintain the speed
@@zekeisme1 I agree to some extent. I'm not talking about being slow, just having a constant smoother pace and being efficient each step you take. Have you seen crazy framer? He doesn't run around yet gets shit done probably faster than most.
Stay safe and learn to walk before you run. Get comfortable being behind the sheets and cracking them in. ....a good fatmax style tape helps to measure/lineup angles and helps in wind
Excellent work 👏👏 how do you get the rafter and hip length I have an idea but I'm not sure do you use the 22 1/2 as a run and put the pitch of the roof
Yes, enter 22.5 inch run . Then your (#) inch , pitch. Then diagonal to find your common rafter length. Then right after that enter your hip pitch then push conv twice to do s your hip length
Let's say it's a 6 12 roof and the side is an 8 12 pitch. First to find the common 6 12 block enter 6 inch pitxh. Then 22.5 inch run . Then diagonal. Now you have you long to short block size. With this same screen open as is plug in 8 inch conv, the. Push hip twice. This will give you your 7/17 common long to short hip length.
@@scottbertrand2057 a platform around the perimeter of the building would prevent a fall from the entire height of the building. I'm just surprised, it's always used in here in the UK
Just figure out a system that works for you and stick with it. All roofs have basic similarities so focus on getting the basics down then the rest comes over time
I have the paslodes and hitachi cordless framing nailer but it is low on air boost. I take it to get a boost every yr or so. Kinda weak right now. If hitachi/metabo could figure out the hook situation they'd corner of he market
Trusses we use have the 1inch and half notched out so u can run a 2by on the flat up the hip line..... those rafter blccks your using seem like a little shady like something i would use in a tree fort when i was ten lmao
I've seen plenty of people shoot their hand and or foot by holding withing range of the nails. Its a matter of time. You can't anticipate when a nail is going to bend and come out where you didn't expect.
@@jamesonkruger6989 I'd like to see that... see if you do yours similar to the way I do mine... we'd get the trusses stepped down and have an overlay truss.
@@brettstahl1686 I could walk you through it. 1.Flip the flat truss upside down on the ground.. 2. Calculate your diagonal between trusses. 3. Measure up from the bottom at each end. But for the first line burn 1/8 per pitch so 6/12 burn 3/4
If you offset them truss an inch and a half you can run a solid 2by 4 instead of all those fillers and have a stronger roofji once was a bad ass framer like you
Not nailing off everything prior to moving on is not a good idea in one humble man's opinion as you have only one good bounce and there are not very many 60 framers just for this reason. Be careful, safe, and stay well.
I love your videos and I’m a huge fan, but why do you put so many nails in one block? We’ve always said the more nails you put in something the weaker it gets. Personally I would do 2 nails in each side and keep moving
First person I've heard call it a line not a string. Lol. Its masons line. Not a f******* string. The Mason that taught me would go ballistic. Over that if I wanted to get him going I would call it a string and boy would he let go. Lmao.
What do you mean screw up saw blades? You talking about the hip if he cuts his sheets that run wild? I’m trying to figure your thought process.. Weird comment.. besides saws tear through nails like butter.
