Great work. I have enjoyed watching you work. I am building a 26 x 18 timber frame cabin and will use some of the techniques you show here. What is the rafter spacing? I had planned on using 2 x 6 decking because my rafters will be spaced about 36” but I am wondering if 1 x 6 would be sufficient. I also am putting foam board on top of the decking then metal. Dear Sir, thank you for the masterly class. Just wanted to know what are the dimensions of the board that use for snow/bug block? Which factors does this size depend on? Where is the groove placed on the board? Also, what happens to the decking at the top of the ridge?The decking from the two sides just meets at the top? Is there any gap in the decking at the top? Thanks.

Howdy AS- the boards are 3/4” thick same as the grooves. They are 8 3/4” wide and I cut them about 1/8” shorter than the length measurement. The saw kerf is 3” up from the bottom and 1/4” deep. The decking goes all the way to the peak on both sides. There is no gap at the top of the roof. Solid wood from the bottom to the top. Hope all is well with you. Take care and God bless you

I watch Meadow Lark Homes videos and they put their electric in between the ceiling and roof but also fill that void with spray insulation. What do you think about that system. I enjoy your videos and agree that you are quite a craftsman.

Howdy Kenny- that’s a good way to do it. We’ve done that before. All the wall logs are predrilled for electrical when I work the logs out. There’s only one wire for a light in the loft and the wire is in a small groove on top of the rafter. Thank you for watching the video. God bless you
