If that's the way it works in this Era I'm 72 and have slow down a bit but my mind and in my Heart I'm never going to grow up. I think that is why I'm still hanging out and want the ending leg of my life is being a Van Dweller till my last breath.

I've been following you since about the time we said "Goodbye buddy" to Disco, so quite a while now. You always make me smile and at the end of every episode I always feel uplifted in some way. It's hard to believe that a guy who lives in a van with his dog 4000 miles away can be so inspirational. Anyway, to cut a long storey short...I BOUGHT A VAN!!!!! :D Thank you Chrome and Cruz for cutting my strings and letting me FLY. Love you guys

Just a piece of advice. You should always have the bolt drop down through the hole, and bolt heads face forward. That way if the nut comes loose or falls off the bolt itself is likely to stay in place, which would possibly prevent a major snafu.

Dont forget to put an aluminium ramp before the first panel. If wind gets under the panels, something will go flying. I know from experience. Almost lost my 250 watt panel this way. It was shattered but because of the wires being connected it just dangled off the side.

Hey Chrome! Having the solar panels on your roof will also help keep it a bit cooler in the summer , allowing shade of the top while solar panels get sun.

Put a white skirt around the outer perimeter of your roof rack and it will look like a storage box on top of your van. Put a cheap ladder on there and it will look like a work van.

That big viking head started out as just a helmet back in 1988. I remember seeing the framework for it then. It had since evolved into the thing you see now, but that was many years after I finished school there. Sadly the school is slated to be torn down, as it doesn't meet earthquake codes. They will constructing a new building, but they haven't decided what is going to happen to the Viking head.

Stick the panels on brackets to the roof with VHB tape...easy & stealth..I followed Hobotech's detailed tutorial .👍👍

Chrome a washer is supposed to be on each side. One on the bolt side and the other on the nut side.

I would turn them bolts downward incase the nuts works loss and u want lose everything if the nuts works lose the other way chances of keeping everything increases

You said you are hoping to install a bigger roof rack in future so you can store more stuff .I think you should set your sights on getting a bigger van which you can stand up in .I notice you are taking delivery of more and more 'stuff ' each day and I wonder where you put it all .I thought living in a van was meant to act like a stomach reduction -you cannot eat any more as your stomach has no room for it.

Congratulations on your new roof/solar rack. I have been following your journeys way down here in NC. I was wondering if you ever worry about Cruz being alone in the van if you don't park near where you are visiting? Security for him?

I always keep the van and him very close usually within visible distance if I am away from visible distance it’s for a very minimal amount of time. I try to park right outside of the places I go into. I have a good alarm system and if anybody were to enter my van I would have their face on camera and I would hunt them the fuck down
