I built a ladder to reach the top of the roof then placed floors accross the top of the roof and built a flat roof covering the pre existing roof not pretty though I was hoping for a better solution .
Anybody's taking that settlement take everybody out there and leave the ghoul at the top.. Then try to click on the workshop, It's going to tell you you can't use it until hostels are cleared... Then go and take out the ghoul, And it seems doing this will make the (light) naturally still be there instead of disappearing.. whether a glitch or not still pretty cool
+Tommy B for consoles, the only thing to do at this point would be to build over the roof. Or you could do what most have done, turn that part into a jacked up balcony area.
+Tommy B I hear ya. It's unfortunate that we can't fix all that small stuff, so we just need to do the best we can, and make it into something beautiful.
yes there is, I went around the dormer with regular shack floors then built barn walls and used barn roofs. I also fixed the main house by starting with barn roofs and then barn walls so it looks like I just plopped a barn structure over the top of the house as a hat. That is the easiest and best way to repair this house, this tips and tricks video is pure garbage. I used no mods and didn't even have use any rug or pillar glitches
One thing I wish fallout 4 settlement building mode had was a leveler. Just put a mini leveler icon on the hub screen and show a percentage indicator, 100% meaning perfect alignment. I always build something that looks even only to return later to see I was wrong and what I build was crooked.
This does work there's a easier way go upstairs and drop a cinder block floor in the middle of the room and then put one on top of it, Now you should be able to snap a perfect square above the roof and actually into the roof but not too far down.. I just got done doing this And it was pouring raining and no rain came through This way does work with the way I'm talking about is a lot faster and you'll get a solid concrete roof above you
Thanks for this video - I've been trying to figure out how to repair that house and make it my home base, and couldn't get anything to work, mat trick or no. You're a genius for getting to the bottom of that. For the heavily damaged area, I just installed a door to block it off and might build an add-on to make it a balcony like you say.
You can do the same thing to fill the gap over the fan without using the upper floor. Take two small floors, put them in a line, take a mat and put it in front of the line to make a straight "three" length line with the mat in the front, and use the glitch that way. Just have to get up on top of the floors to place the last small floor right over the gap. I hope I explained that well. I'm a bit of a perfectionist, didn't like the upper floor under the others, so I had to find a work around.
You can put in a higher ceiling if you use a barn wall instead of the shack wall. Put a barn wall on a small floor tile, add 3 large wooden floors (length) and a row of small floor tiles along 1 side. Fits perfect. I did that yesterday. I'm on XBox. Like the video.
You use a small mat/rug to do the "rug glitch" that should allow you to move the wall (with the attached floor tiles) into the house wall ( bathroom wall facing the window). The floor tiles have to be the barn floor tiles - normal wood tiles don't snap to the barn wall (if I remember right). It worked for me. Question: are you using mods? In later modded play throughs I had to disable my "Cleaner Settlement" mod by Trosski in order to repair houses in various settlements.
+Magister of Asariel You are so welcome. Welcome to the channel. So glad I could help out. If something is ever dogging you like that, don't hesitate to bring it up to me. I will either find a fix or figure out why it can't be fixed. I'll get the answer either way.
Thank you! This has been driving me crazy for the longest time now! Now I can finally feel good about building here. There's SO MUCH you can do here. Thanks. 👍👍
cheers for this hun 😊 guess where my mercer safe house is! just and fyi two single barn floor pieces fit great in the fan space (since we have barns now😊)
+Victor Ramos problem is plugging the hole above the fan in the roof which was the original target of the fix. If I could have gone above the fan to fix the roof I certainly would have done that
+Kevin Alibert I scrapped it so I could get the wall there. Of course I wasn't thinking about the fact that I was going to glitch the wall behind it so I probably could have left it there try it with that there and see if it works and let me know.
+TheFramer38 than don't watch. Took more time for you to type that out then sit through the intro on a video that was made over a year ago. It's your loss.
