We are installing the roof sheathing and underlayment on our off-grid home. We are using 7/16 OSB with H clips. For underlayment, we are using a synthetic underlayment called Tiger Paw.

One thing I learned the hard way, always paint the cuts in the peak as water will get in and cause it to rot in a few years.

Good job getting those angles cut just right the first time. The facia looks great. I'm impressed that you got all that underlayment on and the sheathing done. And I think that using the harness was a very smart move. Keep smiling!

By the looks of things I would say it was most likely a Coyote. It has been my experience that the tend to drag their pray quite a bit. I do not think it could be a fox. They tend to be a little neater. I am also pretty sure they raccoons tend to go after the eggs.

Use that lift. Put several sheets on it. Have it hover just above the trusses and unload them onto the trusses. No need lifting using your back from 2 stories down.

if you do not have one or two game camera's see if your local Fish and Game has a few to help you pin point what is your predator is. they will also be helpful on finding a solution to them. Maybe semi auto chicken coops that allow the chickens to roam but guard them from predators. As long as you are feeding the predator, they will come back for more.

Major gaff on your edge boards. You needed to drop them down about 1/2 fromthe top edge so the plywood will plane into the edge. Now you will have a ramp on the edge. Those corners can be cleaned up with some caulk and wood filler. Btw, you only need to tilt the skillsaw to a 45 degree angle to cut those corners so they plane together. If you truly cant put the outer edge behind the end you will see more. Don't get complacent about being a little off. If those trusses were not spaced correctly then the plywood edges would not seam up at the right point. Btw you will want to nail the ply seams when 2 meet on the sam board at a sleight angle in towards the board. A straight shot will mean it will bite into less board.

Take both pc. of lumber up on the JLG put two screws in each pc. of lumber, where the two pc end up on the ends, you have you angle. Mark it, take it back down, cut it and take it back up, now you have your angle. I see you got it. When you put the OSB sheathing make sure you use some H clips between the lumber. I was never good at dealing either with heights or safety threats and working on roofs has both. Now too stiff and old to think about roofing, I was glad to see a safety harness being used. I could see all the possible ways it could go south. Imagining the threat of starting to slide before the inevitable drop to come. Please always take care before you have an unwanted event. Happily, the build is coming on apace now, though it is a shame about the delayed metalwork.

Do ya'll leave your chickens out at night? If so you need to put them up so other animals can't get to them. If it happened once it will more then likely happen again. Another animal get the taste of blood they'll be back.

You should put up a couple game cams to try and catch the sasquatch that's getting your chickens. Some of my neighbors say there's a bigfoot around here that's about 15 foot tall but its really good at staying away from their cams. :)

You want Safety Sally here it comes, your step ladder is not a regular ladder for access, the ladder should be three rungs above the opening that your accessing. When you use the lift next time a lifeline is required. Only man lifts that go up and down do not require a lifeline unless you depart the basket. Articulating booms require a lifeline. Standing on the top step and second step of the step ladder. You are using the wrong safety belt those are illegal. If you fall with that harness you will bend at the waist (forward or backward) causing serious injury, it has to be a D-ring on the back to make you fall straight down. You must know how far you are falling to calculate the distance for the lanyard length, take into account the length of the lanyard, ripstop, and the stretch of the line when falling and adjust appropriately. Also, wear appropriate eye protection. You are aware that OSHA doesn't apply to you as a homeowner. If you are a business then it applies, the jury is out yet if your funds from youtube, etc. if that's not a business and taxes need to be paid.

You should have put down ice shield for which is the sticky material that goes under underlayment. Straight on to the roff that stops ice damming.

ice shield doesn't stop ice damming proper ventilation does. but it will help protect the underlayment it you have ice damming. We have a 6/12 metal roof with proper ventilation. Ice damming won't be a problem.

Are you going to store your vehicles in the garage during winter months and when you buy your garage doors please do not get cheap doors because this will hurt your finances in the long run! Get insulated ones too. Reinforce garage ceiling for garage door opener and extra lighting! Put 220 electric plug for future projects and walls for to hang tool from!

To get the angle of a rafter cut easily, just ask Siri 4/12 pitch = 18.4 degrees and so on.there are many ways but this the easiest.

I suspect Bigfoot. Clean clothes are a sign of a desk job. Years ago I saw the perfect picture; in a dingy, dirty, beatup saloon there is an old bentover guy leaning on the bar dressed in old, dirty, filthy, poorly patched, and ill fitting clothes, rumpled old black hat, and muddy boots. There's a series of three videos of him framing a house from subflooring, then walls and finally ceiling joints and roof rafters. Videos are from 1992 and he has all kinds of tips and tricks to make it easier. The videos have been uploaded to RU-vid.
