Things feel like they are progressing fast! Hayden installs the roofing, making the tiny house kind of waterproof... kind of.
Then the back of the exterior utility cladding is oil stained and the interior wall lining is moved inside.
And we will have power soon! We now have the most insane looking generator and a decent sized solar kit to install in the near future.

Wow nice genny Karen, now did they tell you about the "Silent " bit ....yep that label doesn't make any sound at all not a peep....were working on the motor. That plywood they were putting inside looks real nice ,lovely grain. Dont you worry about working too much just give us a big Karen smile once in a while .You stay safe and just let Hayden and the baby's half brother do the physical stuff just buy them a beer once in a while, they deserve it for the super job so far. Haha, still haven’t heard a peep from the label. I’ve got the generator tucked away to reduce the noice some more. Eventually it will get its own sound proof box.

Yep, needed the generator to keep the solar topped up in winter. It was great seeing Jack wanting to help than just play games as he gets older.

The cabin looks bigger with a roof for some reason. I'm so excited for you too. Life is going to get a bit easier with proper power set up and a full sized room to hang out in! You won't know yourself. Like father like son - handy blokes to have around

It’s not a requirement here. But we have the maximum size insulation going in the ceiling.

How awesome getting a good power set up. I'll soon (I hope) be tackling setting up my power system in my van. But might have to pay someone. But I'll do as much as I can. Got my bed and half the kitchen area built. It's been fun nothing square but I'm happy with it.

I googled years ago and you guys have much better insulation in your roofs and walls than we do. In older houses we only have black paper on the framing before the outside walls go on. Freezing!!!

@Mark ply under roofing paper makes alot of structural sense. However its an added expensive. And we in NZ dont get same same winter az you would. Tornado 🌪 cyclones 🌀 snow ❄ 😳 Golly gosh

It’s not a requirement here to have ply in the roof but I’ve used ply for the ceiling to add extra strength.

11:20 My baby's bigger than yours ;) Mine arrived on 8th June Max output: 6.9 kW (although with my modifications, it'll be higher than this now !) Rated output: 6.3 kW Rated current: 26.4A* But the biggest trick up its sleeve - is mine's 3 phase ! (* so the current figure is 3x 8.8A) And the whole point of it - to run 3 phase equipment (and be a back up generator). I'm working on the installation now - videoing that to go onto RU-vid soon.

Karen & Hayden,,Hello, I see things are moving given your weather, tellHAYDEN,that I did put in the town he suggested, which DID come up, BUTit now displays as TAUMARUNIU, so I have no idea where that is to your location, but seen it rains daily,,if it’s any comfort to you,,is that we are COLDER,, as you @12;57pm is 18^C, we are. 11^C , also with rain, Mother’s Day was a washout!, anyhow , That generator I quite like 1 we bought after HURRICANE SANDY, we got it AFTER the power was off 6 days , ours is 7,5kw 1 cyl diesel , it’s NOT silent, but tolerant , good luck stay healthy, take care 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇺🇸🇺🇸

Taumarunui is close enough for the weather, but we live just outside there. There was a power cut in town the other day and we were fine and normal though.

It’s the manufacturer recommendations to stain all sides including the edges and back since it’s used on the exterior.

Real thin grade iron too. Easy to dent. However it has its benefits 😉 Bit like a thin pot. Heats up fast. I imagine the wool insulation in roof will keep them warm in winter cool 😎 in Summer👌

On the roof, yes. But insulation will go underneath from the inside.
