Thanks the video. Looking at your Forester it appears you are using the OEM flush mounted roof rails and Yakima cross bars. Just guessing but the Falcon RTT, awning and additional racks, traction boards and shovel, you must be exceeding the dynamic load limit. Any issues while driving? Wanting to get a Falcon 2 for my Foz but I also have a small awning that combined will take me over the limit by at least 20-25 lbs.
Does the strut handle the weight of the traction boards when the tent is deployed or do you have to always take it off before you deploy/open the tent? Thanks.
Traction boards alone are fine, but the gas and traction boards was too much. Also consider snow, that gets stuck on the boards and has closed on us before. We bought some clamps to fix this issue.
hey i was wondering if you can still open up your back hatch with the rtt on top with your configuration. Also is that front over hang an issue for daily driving?
And also how do you like the awning that you have mounted. Was there any drilling or modification to make the awning work with the brackets? Thanks, James
Looking to purchase one myself! But before I do, I want to know when driving on the highway, do you hear any wind noise from the inside while going 60+MPH? How sturdy does it look from the outside when driving on the highway? Referring to the one on the forester (:
Hey Morgan, On the forester there is no more noise than any other tent we have had up there. Because of the bar placement, they is a little bit of movement on rough roads but it isn't very noticeable or a concern to us. Hope that answers your question!
Great review, and super nice tent. I found you because I am considering one myself. I like the XL, but since you reviewed it in the snow, did you use any kind of tent hearer? Would a medium My buddy heater destroy one of those? Thanks for the review. Nice to see a review from out in the wild.
