We have a antenna to work on just past the rail of your product. My guys are advance climbing and clipped in at alls time however we need to get to this antenna. what are the h&s on standing on the rail?
+Warren Dellow Hi Warren. Thanks for reaching out to us. OSHA does not really address the idea of climbing over railing. They simply put in place standards that workers need to be protected from fall hazards, and this needs to be done as safely as can be done. Typically this includes railing, but at times (as you are experiencing), this requirement means that we need to be creative to solve an otherwise deadly hazard. The example of your workers tying off and proceeding outside the railing is a good example of how to address your situation. Verify that the means of tying off is done correctly - to a compliant anchor point (not the railing), and that all other safe work practices are being followed (inspections, proper use of the harness and lanyard, observation of swing-fall hazards, etc...). If you have any questions about these practices or need more information, please let us know.
+Simplified Building Thank you for your response, the main issue is we install telecom systems for the likes of Vodafone, EE and o2 here in the UK. As you know the H&S is rather tight here. The issue is that with the antennas we need to hang onto steel work that is just 2 feet past the railings, we need adjust the brackets at the top. this is where we will standing on the top railing however clipped onto other steel structures
