DAMN Ben looks young. I remember watching this game live and it was possibly just as sweet as both Superbowls we won in the Big Ben era. I remember being with several friends and having beers, and by the end of the night we were SCREAMING at the TV ripping apart Tom Brady and just laughing and having a blast. Every time Brady would get sacked or pressured they would cut the cameras to his face and he was visibly shaken and upset... and we loved every second of it. The Pats were the "big bad Boogyman" back then and to end their winning streak was just magnificent. They would come back and demolish us for the AFC game, but we got right back up after a 15-1 season and won the next Superbowl. So all was well in Blitzburgh from 2004-2006

for ben to start his career with 14 straight wins, including his playoff debut against the jets, is an unbreakable record. yeah he had a stout defense and a fantastic run game, but winning 14 straight is very difficult, let alone for a rookie QB that wasn’t even the week 1 starter. that record will never be broken, and i’m not sure if any other rookie QB will come close ever again.

Wanna know how? The 2004 Eagles Defense was the same as 2007 Giants. The difference was that the 2004 Patriots could play smash-mouth football to tire out and beat down that style of "NASCAR" Defense.

3 of the 4 best teams in the nfl were Steelers, Colts and Pats who of course went to 10 superbowls from 2001-2011. The loss of Ty Law hurt, but I felt the pats could get them in the playoffs which they did that year. Others have said it, but the 04 Pats were probably the most complete teams in the Brady Pats era outside of receiver

Big Ben rookie season was special and for BigBen to tell the Bus that we will get u to SB was special and Big Ben delivered on his promise. With out Brady and Manning BigBen would’ve had 4 SB easy . Absolutely a legend and privilege to watch BigBen play his whole career

I recall this game being on Halloween night of ‘04 and boy, was it ever a great one. Definitely one to remember and one to savor as long as we could, since the playoff rematch would end up a whole different story. But we’ll take whatever we can against that team.

Which he should not have been able to do. I don't mean the Steelers should have won; I mean the Pats should have been playing the Jets. The Steelers should have been bounced in their first playoff game, and I'm still flabbergasted that they escaped that game with a win.

Yes Ben had a great supporting cast, but just sit back and appreciate how good he was then so young. He had the poise of a 10 year veteran, pump fake, looking off safeties, moving in the pocket, sensing the rush. The days of the Steelers having a QB that could win games on their shoulders was born. And then left again when he retired lol 😮😅

I'm still shocked that the Steelers were beaten by the Patriots in the playoffs. Because they shouldn't have even _made_ it that far. HOW did the Jets manage to blow the divisional playoff game? They had two chances to win it in the last six minutes, and blew two field goal attempts in a row. I was a serious Steelers fan back then, but I'm still amazed we even got to the AFC Championship. Ben the prodigy disappeared and Ben the rookie took over once the playoffs started.
@piratesmvp

Ben was dealing with a thumb injury in that AFC Championship game which I think affected his throwing. I think I remember the local sports stations speculating on whether he would even be able to play or whether we'd have to start Maddox instead.

I swear to god, if only Pittsburgh played like this nowadays, with more of a killer instinct to keep on shoving the ball down an opponent's throat. Maybe then they wouldn't have to have an unreasonable number of games necessitating 14+ point fourth quarters to even keep a game competitive, or just barely win by one score.
