I'm just taking a moment to say that I love ALL the characters in this show. I don't see why everyone is hating on Sam when he's only human and has made a few mistakes. If you look at the show from season 1 up to episode 10 of season 3 McSwarek never had any negative moments. If they had arguments, they'd always resolve them and become closer because of them. They've always been there for each other since the beginning. For most of the series, it was actually Andy who was getting ready to marry someone else while Sam pined after her so he earned my love way back then. Then Jerry died and that changed things drastically for them. Sam made a few mistakes and Andy left without a word and then Sam moved on before he was ready. All of this did unfortunately change their relationship to one that wasn't as easy to watch. In fact, I really enjoy Nick and Andy, and a part of me knows they would be great. They're both wonderful characters. But this whole show has been all about 2 things for me : 1. the small character moments between the rookies and the old guard and 2. Sam and Andy. They're partnership in the first 2 seasons (best seasons of the show imo) is what kept me watching episode after episode. That said, I really hope that they explore their relationship returning to how it used to be (w/more communication) because I do think Nick and Andy are lovely together even if their connection isn't as strong. Sam and Andy have had my heart since day 1 though and I love them to bits.
This scene shows how unengaged/unconnected Sam is with Marlo. Yes, he's been busy with the operation for a few days but he should have seen SOME indication of this in her behaviour, her actions. He looks completely blindsided. He didn't even notice Marlo wasn't in parade - when Andy wasn't there last year (3x09) he asked about her & called her in the first 5 minutes. It's like he hasn't seen or talked to Marlo in a week - she didn't get so manic overnight and he has no idea what's going on.
The character of Sam has been through rough things that shape him. He acts strong because he is. He has had to be. If you've watched all of the seasons closely you'll find him admirable if misguided at times.
I think hes just trying to protect the women around him because of his sister, but andy's going to think hes in love with marlo. this season has been heart breaking and I think its effected the series
Have we been watching the same show? I think in previous seasons they really had fun until Jerry's death. The baking scene, the boxing scene, the part when they went to congratulate Andy's dad on his birthday. Also them working together has been fun to watch.
I think he was surprised by her intensity in that moment but didn't think about it again or connect anything that followed to it. Maybe he thought she was just having a bad day or got an especially bad feeling from Ford vs. other subjects. The bottom line, for me, is that he doesn't pay as much attention to her - doesn't pick up all the details that he did with Andy.
the most part of this show was andy/sam, laughter, flirty fun still with excellent story lines, I feel this seson has been a big let down. so please get it back!
Chandler Johnson Do not mind the negative comments related with Sam, for me Nick and Sam are not on the same way, they cannot be even comparable. Main difference 1: Sam was holding Andy's hand while she was carrying a bomb in 3*13 Nick shot her in 4*01 while Andy and him were in undercover! Sam is the real man and Nick is the cute little guy :) Main difference 2: Without checking what did Nick do to Gail, blaming Sam about Andy sounds very hypocrite. He always treats Gail like a jerk as he confessed to DOV! Season 5 is a beautiful McSwarek season and we should enjoy the ride, Sam is grown and now he is really open to Andy! They have a dynamic/mature/honest/compassionate and passionate relationship contains a pure love. McCollins and McCallaghan aare not on the same way with McSwarek, they lack of love and passion first of all.
[1/2] The fact that they're upbeat scenes are limited to a restricted amount of nothing is sad in comparison to the majority dysfunctional stale over dramatic sulking is both insignificant and sad considering they've had 4 seasons.
I would like to punch Sam for what he did. It was really idiotic to ask Andy to falsify evidence. That just wasn't right. Andy values her job as an officer. She risked her career. She got beaten down by Oliver.
I really don't understand why you all chose her, as a writer myself you all need to do better, but rookie blue needed to end, because I can't imagine Sam and Marlo being co parents, both of them has real issues, unless you all have her nameless baby 18 years old or older
Those scenes i mentioned were just examples. I think they've had a good relationship considering how scared Sam has been with all his feelings. It's not easy to be in love with someone who's in a relationship with someone else. Then try to take things slowly so that the other one can heal after previous relationship went south. In season 4 he's been kind of an ass and he could've handeld things different. Their timing has been horrible.
[2/2] If anything andy knows how to light up a scene. Sam is just a WUSS who thinks he's HIGH AND MIGHTY and makes everything DEPRESSING and makes BULLSHIT DRAMA like placing complete blame on Andy for putting her career first because apparently she is supposed to drop EVERYTHING whenever he says so, breaking his promise ignoring her existence to mean less than shit until the SECOND she is happy.
@Sharon Season 4 is one of my favorites starting off with the awesome undercover drug smuggling premiere episode. Its also the Most watched season of Rookie Blue EVER with more and more people tuning in each episode. The premise of change or die is brilliant. Andy and sam were not "laughter and fun" they were whiny, creepy, dreadful, and over dramatic. I'm so over and tired of that shit. Nick/Andy is warmth, laughter, maturity, amazing. Andy's first love is sam but andy's TRUE LOVE is Nick.
