i think this is a great video for new drivers. I'm not a driver myself but my family owned a trucking company for many, many years and it can be a great career. I have a ton of respect for truckers and appreciate this resource for new drivers who might be interested in Swift. Keep up the good work!!!!!!
I'm strongly interested in becoming a truck driver and by extension in years to come a owner operator for my own company. And to me, swift sounds like a good start. I hope I'm not wrong.
Swift is a great company to start with. Get you at least a year of experience and go to a smaller company where you’ll make more money! Good luck brother
Yeah if I ever get started with swift that’s definitely my plan. It’s a slower process than I thought but I’ll keep going. Thanks for the encouragement. Be safe out there brother.
@@kazithecanecorso2724 oh there were some medical issues that they kept busting my balls about. They kept giving me the runaround, wanting me to do test after test. I understand where they're coming from but it's been a long annoying process. That finally got the better of me. I decided to move on from Swift now I'm in the process of applying for Milton trucking.
@@RobertCWarwick hello there. There wasn't an aptitude test or any kind of written test during the orientation. There was an English comprehension test on a computer. It took only 3 mins and it was super easy. It just asks to identify basic colors and identify what traffic signals say. If there is a written test further on during the training, I never made it that far. Hope that helps
They do a thorough background check, but if you're honest with everything from what I understand, I mean, if you have like felonies as long as they are 10 years ago. They have whole departments that that are working on every aspect of your application. Your work history, your background, your medical history. They are very thorough but not much from what I can tell will deny you. Plus the drug test is thorough as well. It's a hair and piss test.
Bro, the market is complete crap at the moment. After two years of crap paychecks and horrible miles, I went back to pipe welding. I wish it was different. I enjoyed my OTR experience. It's just the money isn't there anymore.
Sorry about the late reply. I was told I would start at $.51 a mile after training. They used to do a thing where they guaranteed you $1000 a week but they don't do that anymore. The recruiter did promise me at least 2500 miles a week but people I have since spoke with, I mean other drivers have seen that they are struggling to get that many miles a week. me personally I am no longer going with Swift. I'm in the process of signing up with Milton trucking.
@@togetunthemood43 they sometimes sell you a bag with some stuff in it. That has a shirt and a jacket and other things but you have to pay for it for like 250 bucks. They'll take it out of your check. But they didn't even offer that to us. And yes you do go home after orientation while they process you. Usually takes about a week if there aren't any issues.
