Why are the nepalis in a constant state of denial. I think the sad thing is Nepal has had weak security arrangements. Madan Bhandari was killed in cold blood, and then King Birendra. This is not a new trend in Nepal. Throughout the unified Nepal’s history, killings like that occurred. There was no RAW or CIA back then. Mad princes or local alternative power centres were responsible. In 2001, it was the unrestrained prince who was embattled by the constant hectoring of his supercilious mother. The king was only the genuinely gentle person in the family.There are many many evidence littered across the pages of world history where seemingly benign persons turn aggressive and conduct unimaginable acts of violence. Their being benign is a carefully projected public image, not necessarily the reality. See, the truth is Nepal isn’t that “important” or “powerful” for such eclectic set of covert organisations to collaborate and eliminate the Nepali king in cold blood. This is not how things work in real world.

The comment section shows how illogical we are. Rukmangat Katwal is one of those people who have closer insight into what had happened. I have watched many interviews of him and other related people of the incident and read many books and articles about it. Most of these have one thing in common is that the then prince killed all. I was 15 at the time of massacre. All my studies and research ( from my perspective) have similar thoughts with Katwal. The royal massacre was not planned. It was done by the then prince Dipendra. The government of Nepal had formed a high level committee comprising of the then Cheif Justice, speaker of HOR and main opposition leader, Madhav Nepal. But later Madhav Nepal resigned before starting investigation. Then 2 member committee came up with their investigation and found Dipendra was guilty and in my views he is guilty. One thing people don’t understand is that there were many people in Royal Nepal Army who were taken care by royal family and Mr Katwal was one of them. Late king Mahendra brought him from a village in Okhaldhunga and gave education and due to this he was able to make to the army officer. Katwal was always devoted to the country and royal family as well no matter whether it was Birendra or Gyanendra. From his book and interview all I can say is that he is true patriot. And how on earth he would fear to tell the truth if it was not Dipendra who triggered. I don’t think he is afraid of bringing the truth but some people think he is lying just because he is not saying what people want to listen. And some people have thoughts that how a person can kill his/her own family members and himself/ herself. The answer is he was high on drug. Common read some history/ massacre in and around the world. People have been killing their lived ones ( which is very sad) because they are not in the position to judge what is right and wrong especially when they are on drugs. If it was other than Dipendra then there were many people who have opposed it and bring up other result they were/ are silent because they know the truth and it is contrary to what some people want to listen. PS: I was always pro monarch and have always respectful towards royal family like most of the Nepalese.
