hello wonderful humans! rachael here. hope you enjoy this room/flat tour of our university housing while we are abroad at University of Auckland :) huuuuge thanks to our families for providing us with the opportunity to study abroad and our universities for allowing this experience!
p.s. i made that intro so that it's supposed to be so cheesy it's stupidly funny, but i can't tell if it's too cringe or not so PLS lmk in the comments. I CAN TAKE HARSH CRITICISM. I PROMISE.

I know this is a year late but pepper spray is illegal here 😬 Only the police are allowed it so you're lucky you weren't caught with it

Are all the rooms in the uni accommodation single? Like you don’t share rooms with anyone ?

I can only speak for the Carlaw Park, but yes they are all single rooms and you share a bathroom and kitchen with other people.

I'm gonna be headed down there to study from the US in a couple months. When you moved did you buy a whole bunch of power adapters, or just one and one giant power strip?

I don't quite remember, but I know I had just one universal adapter for my laptop, phone, kindle, headphones. They have some good, cheap ones on amazon. I did buy an NZ power strip for my desk, and then had an individual adapter for USB to the power strip whenever I needed it.

@@rachaelgrant9159 Gosh, thanks for the help. I think I might be a little concerned with plugging in my mac and having it explode but I'll take my chances. As an American what were some of the challenges you had to overcome with transitioning to the different environment? Or what maybe stood out the most? I'm certainly excited to study down there this coming February but a little scared at the same time so any tip at all would be a huge help. Cheers!

I'm not quite sure, as my housing cost was paid straight through from my home university. However, I know you can look it up online on the Carlaw website!

Hi Rachael, is the Uni gym membership included with carlaw park accommodation?

It is not included with the carlaw park accommodation specifically, but if you are a student of UoA, you get a gym membership I believe! But all carlaw residents are students, so by proxy, yes.
