The problem is that now the federal agencies are stocked full of environmental extremists that do everything in their bureaucratic power to restrict hunting & fishing. It is a real problem.
I find this story/accounts very exciting and I hunt/fish but the sheer excess of killing just because they can is upsetting in a way? never thought I'd feel that way about hunting. The way the country was with wolves , grizzly and abundance of other animals must have been something.... this story make me appreciate game tags and management even though I hate gov't involved in anything in my life. sad to think what has happened to this country and the people who live it.
Marc B You should understand, that back then, grizzlies and wolves were killed off for cattle and other live stock. This was a period of expansion and the thought was about settling the area and making the area safe for women and children and man himself. You should also recognize that this killing of grizzlies, wolves, elk, deer, bison all made a deep impression on Teddy. The outcome was the Boone and Crockett Club and the National Park movement. So once again, there is proof positive that it's hunters that lead in conservation. Be proud.
And also it was the time of market hunters and hide hunters. They killed for the meat to feed the growing community's. And hides to clothe and to feed the industrial revolution. Most of the power belts were bision leather. And a far sadder side to take the food from the Indians.
Martin Stiastny yeah just like they killed off the bison? Please spare me B.S. justifications.🙄. These people excessively killed animals because they could. People forget government gets involved because when they weren't people making a mess of things.
@@mainnevent515 nope 100% wrong look at history. The bision were killed off with government help. If the buff hunter. Which is actually wrong it's self market hunters and modern hunters have all most nothing in common. The army would give the market hunters ammo if they used 50-70 or 45-70. The killing of the bision was not just for meat and hides which were important. But the government wanted the vast heards killed of. To starve out the Indians to the point they could not be resistant to the resivations. And to open the land for homesteading and farming. You can't farm or homestead where millions of buff comes through. And the industry uses of the hide, tallo, and bones can't be over looked. And all that with government help and blessings. The government not in it for your best interest and they don't help much.
Tbj Tbj I'm not saying your wrong but my comment was a rebuttal to your notion of hunters killing these animals for 'feeding communities'. I was aware of the incentive the government gave to kill the buffaloes but I didn't realize it was to starve the native Americans as well.
The only species hunted out of existence was the Buffalo. Everything else is fine. Sure, there isn’t any grizzly inside the Denver city limits but the grizzly will still survive nonetheless.
