That was an awesome amount of material packed into 21 minutes. Thanks for sharing your knowledge Andy. I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos.
Dear Andy, I am so happy to watch your videos, especially this one for my PMP preparation exam. Awesome explanation! Could you kindly think of making a video as soon as you can explaining Root cause and CAPA with an example? That would be of great help for me as I learn much quicker with examples. Many thanks in advance.
You have just set the standards on simplified learning. So useful. TQ man. Just subscribed...(second comment here, typed earlier but not sure why it does not appear under comments section)
Whenever I have a question about CAPA & RCA.i go back to your videos, Andy. Looking forward to register in your class to become a CQE - as soon as I meet the requirements.
Hello, I actually have a question. Is root cause analysis used to improve the outcome when the process is already stable, or is it used to make the process stable, by removing the so called special causes?
Great question! So when a process is already stable, the only way to make improvements is to reduce the common cause variation for that process. Do that still requires investigation, measurement and analysis of your process to understand the root causes of that variation. So in a sense, your ability to understand the root cause of variation would also apply here.
@@greenbeltacademy sorry for the late reply, but I had to take a few days to look a bit more into it! Yes I understand, although I have to say that this is a bit of a confusing topic because in some six sigma courses they say that common causes are common because they don't have a root cause... what six sigma tools do you suggest to investigate on the root cause of common causes as opposed to special causes? Thanks in advance
Hey Mike, that's a great question, and a bit of a loaded question. Sooo, if your procedures require that you answer all 24 questions, then yes it's obligatory - because your SOP requires it. From a more holistic perspective in terms of identifying the root cause of a problem, and developing an effective countermeasure - No, it's not required to answer all 24 questions.
Hey Sombra! It's definitely on the to-do list, but I've got a ton of other priorities and customers to serve. I'm guessing it'll be done by the end of Q1 2022 ish. Thanks for your patience!
Hi.. While using 5W2H, how can we use 'WHY' as that's exactly the reason we are performing the root cause analysis. If the 'WHY' means something else from what I have expressed, please comment. Thank you.
Hey Narendra, when writing your problem statement (using Is/Is not) it's often possible to take your first guess at the "why" of the root cause. It doesn't have to be perfect, and we will use the entire root cause process to establish the true root cause of a problem.
