i've created user called "cel" using the useradd command. but when i tried to run su command which is switching user. in the linux terminal it does only show "$" dollar sign. why is that. and that cel user. it doesnt belong to the home directory. why is that?

Hi Mark , when we create a user , then PS1 variable is not set for it . This variable is responsible to show string (here $) . You can create .bashrc file in for cel user and change the value of PS1. sir if i have not set any root password so by default which password I should enter to enter in root directory

Hi , the root privileges will be required bu default. You might need to set it up. askubuntu.com/questions/347818/what-is-the-default-root-password-when-was-never-set-at-installation-time this may help.
