Yes. The Key 304 is the actual key on the bluetooth controller. The Button_B is what will trigger when you press that key. So if you want Key 304 to trigger BUTTON_B instead of BUTTON_A, you can change it in the file to read Key 304 BUTTON_B.

@@DeathfireD I've done this but it still doesn't work. Even after checking the file is saved correctly ( with correct permissions and swapped key in kl file ) it still reads as default in the game/key tester apps, games & user interface.

So you want to remap a Bluetooth remote like the one in this video? I'm not sure. Have you tried Windows PowerToys?

@@DeathfireD my keyboard looks the same, but it is not bluetooth, I think on the radio signal) yes i tried powertoys and it works but only if the program itself is enabled. wanted to permanently change the vol.up, vol.down, next, previous, media, mail, mute, search, home buttons for this keyboard to numpad 0-9,+,-,/ buttons so that they can be used to control in games.

If your android device is rooted you can edit any controller mapping. That includes USB controllers

Is the file name correct and is it using the correct vendor and product ids? I'd double check that stuff.

There's not already a file in that folder named the same, correct? Try downloading Multilanguage Keymap Redefiner and see if that pulls up the same Vendor and Product ids.

Correct, there's not already a file in that folder named the same. It pulls up the same Vendor and Product IDs. I can actually use MKR to set the Home button to Home but only if it is my default keyboard. If I make my own kl file, for some reason upon reboot it my tablet will not use it; it insists on using the generic.kl. In fact, I tried temporarily hiding the generic.kl to try and force the tablet to use the Vendor_1997_Product_2433.kl but it won't do it. I tried both reboot and soft reboot (from menu after holding down power button).

So when you hide the generic.kl you are still able to use the keyboard? That should actually break it from working... That makes me believe that there's another location on your device that the files are in. Check all the locations on this page source.android.com/devices/input/key-layout-files and try putting your .kl file into each location where you see a generic.kl file. I wish I had a Nexus 7 to test. I'm curious now.
