I like this idea that a cavewoman named Dutchess is running around to help the community; a name taking after the concept of nobility which postdates this entire game by many, many years 😂 The farm sim isn't exactly my top 3 sort of game genre I play, but I've definitely played enough of others in the genre to appreciate the ways Pacha is trying to be different! I do really like the artstyle too, it feels much more striking to me; I get this nostalgic feel from the pixelart, as if it's one of those browser MMOs from the early 2000's which is such a specific note to hit. I also enjoy how much more open it seems the maps are! I know Stardew is the darling of the genre these days, but for some reason there are few other games that make me feel more claustrophobic than when I'm playing it. Roots of Pacha not only feels more open, but the setting lends itself to these organic, underedeveloped areas. Really refreshing! Another preference of mine is that I enjoy the concept of utilizing my man-hours in the game to tend to my crops myself! I don't think I saw anything resembling a sprinkler or a way to auto-tend to the fields, so am I right in assuming there's no automation? if so, this is yet another aspect I appreciate being different these days. Great review!

Pfft! Please! 😂 That's where the name and concept came from! I was such a help to the prehistoric community that they named a whole royal position after me. 🤣 The farming sim genre has definitely gotten oversaturated in recent years. Even though I really enjoy playing them (and would never turn down an opportunity to review one), it's a genre that I have been spending a little less time on lately. But Roots of Pacha definitely innovates in areas that need it! I agree wholeheartedly about the in-game map feeling more open. I can definitely confirm that it's a lot more freeing and less restraining than Stardew's map is. As for the sprinkler question, there is an ability to unlock one as you progress further through the game! It's not quite a modern day sprinkling system, though. It's done through irrigation, I believe. When it comes to sprinklers, I always forget to build them in literally any farming sim I play 😂 In my second Stardew Valley playthrough with my best friend, I didn't even upgrade my watering can until year 2, and spent all that time watering my own crops LOL

It's funny. These farming-type games are kinda hit-or-miss for me. I know Stardew Valley is extremely popular, but when I tried it I just couldn't get into it. But then again, I used to play Core Keeper quite a bit and I had some big farms in that one. The prehistoric theme is kinda interesting and sets this one apart. :)

I feel like the more I play cozy games, the harder it is to get into then since Stardew Valley set the bar so high 😂 But nah, I totally get where you're coming from. Cozy games and Stardew are really slow experiences, and definitely not meant for everyone. That's why Roots intrigued me a lot... it moves relatively fast, so it might hold some appeal for a different set of gamers 😊

Looks promising, and there is a switch port too. So I will try it someday, thanks for the recommendation.

Is it just out on PC, or has it come to either the PS4 or the Switch as well? I only own those two consoles! 😢

I'm so sorry! I should've specified which consoles the game was on. That was entirely my fault, my bad! But to answer your question, it was ported to the Switch somewhat recently, I believe 😊
