Hi, Most Christmas rope light decorations are continues rope light in 1 meter sections but it is dyed in different areas, most people cut out the blown section then repair with the nearest colour or use white and paint with acrylic paint, we only sell the 12mm rope light as we had too many problems with the thinner stuff (some people still repair the thin stuff using our thicker rope light by cutting down the discs on the joiners)

Hello, I normally use 12mm, I find this more robust, to do the sharp corners heat the rope light up and bend with the 2 main wires at the sides of the bend, If you bend it with the thicker wires at the of the bend they can stretch and break. Hi, normally it will still have cut areas at 1 meter intervals

You will need to watch both the videos i have made to identify if it is LED or incandescent rice bulb rope light, the other video covers LED Regards Martin

Sounds like a wire might have burnt out where the power lead joins the rope light, look for burning around this area. that's all i can think off

Hello, yes normally it would mean it is all faulty

if you cut 1 meter out and re join it may work, it depends on the type of rope light

If the rope light flashed it will have 3 wires and this kit will not work, if it has 2 wires the kit should work

Patrick! The kit this man is repairing with is basically two copper rods, probably about 1-2mm thick encased in a plastic, rubber, or neoprene shroud. The cuts he’s making expose the wire feeds running through the rubber shroud of the rope light. The join is made by pushing the copper rods into the rubber shroud so that they are in contact with the existing electrical feeds then heat shrink is put on to cover the repair! I admit he could have shown a close up of the rod repair inserted into the rope light but overall I thought the instruction video was very well presented 🤷‍♂️

If you look at the cut rope light that you are working on, you will see the 2 main electrical elements, sorry cannot edit the video. We do also have a jointing video for LED rope light that may help more. Regards Martin
