@@PatnDebPuckett Mrs. Deb. I'm from a town called Cumpas sonora tell Mr. Pat. It is two hours from the border with Douglas. Az. The reason why I like this kind of rope is because my grandfather and my dad always worked with 60 feet of rope. and also reatas that they do themselves. That's why I really like Mr. Pat's style ...

Which explains. the equipment he uses. everything is to the old school. the hondo in the rope. rawhide braiding reins everything is old school like my father and my grandfather teach me Mrs. Deb.
I have been looking for this kind of information for 20 years. Being from the east coast it’s very hard to find anyone who knows any of this information. I have developed some shots but you’d be amazed how I can over complicate things. Thanks from NC

Good morning Gary. We were told that it’s called a sheep shank. I’m sure someone will correct me on that. Anyway, you double your get down rope and run the doubled part through the nightlatch. Then you put a half hitch or two over the doubled end. The half hitch comes from the side of the get down that goes back to the horse not the side that goes to the tail of the rope. Hope this is as clear as mud!
marcio henrique The size of the loop depends on many things like the size of the calf or cow being roped, distance of the throw, etc. The ropes we like are 5/16 nylon soft lay from King Ropes in Sheridan WY.
