What is magical about Rory Gallagher is that nobody has ever said a bad word about him. He ll be remembered as a very modest, humble man as well as being a guitar virtuoso. What I also like is the respect he gets from other great guitar players like Brian May, Slash and Alex Lifeson to name a few. Rory was taken all to soon but his legacy will live on forever. RIP Rory G.
I just watched a documentary about him, and the local music store owner said he was ...’ well raised’. Even as a teenager he would come into the store and was soft spoken and polite. I thought that was quite telling.♥️
Gerry has a chip on his shoulder regarding Rory….oddly…..hell say all the right stuff but after i read his Riding Shot Gun i realized he was an enabler one and two not a true friend in the least. A real shame if you ask me….went to to the Rory fest and saw band of friends realizing he did it for show business and income. Odd guy if you ask me. Just so strange ….maybe like an envious brother more or less
@@MothGirl007oh really?? Omg, now i like both of them even more! I grew up listening Nirvana, now i'm more blues guy.. And Rory, oh man, what a wonderful guy, what a player, i have no words.. God bless you all folks, peace❤️hail hail rocknroll!
I think Rory was a guy that was truly a "one of" A true great who was uncomfortable hearing himself talk about music as opposed to playing it. In this type of setting and with the questions from the interviewers I think alot of people would feel uncomfortable. RIP Rory....your music and your actions will always live on in our hearts!
I did this interview, some 35 years ago now. What really hits me was just how quiet and shy he was off air. That is until he picked up a guitar (he had one with him) and he immediately became more "himself". Such a gentleman, self effacing for sure, but a lovely person. And so greatly missed
Ahhhh, he always comes across as so humble and unassuming for such a great musician. Kind, polite and sweet. I just love the guy. He left us way way way too early.
Seems like a lovely bloke always polite on interviews and what a brilliant guitarist one of the best and some how never got to see him live a true raw blues player shear talent just born to play watch him kids these days thats how to play never be another rory rip you will be always be remembered
So unassuming and humble, what a contrast to the fake it till you make it crap they call music today, this man was dripping with talent, one of the greatest ever, the world is a lesser place due to his passing.😐
R.I.P Rory,i love you with all my heart.so nice to see someone who is not only a sublime musician but a genuine human being;down to Earth,humble,personable...bless him
His music was a wonderful mixture of blues, rock and Irish influences. Listen to 'Crest of a Wave' and that soaring slide guitar, ' Hands Off' live at Reading Festival where he breaks out into a joyous Irish jig. Music that makes you happy to be alive.
The funny thing is that the presenters and audience are embedded in the 1980s kitsch whereas Rory Gallagher isn't. Rory Gallagher actually appears modern and with it whereas everthing else in the program is stuck in the 80s. It shows that Rory was other worldly he will never date.
Rory was timeless, he had his own style that suited him perfectly, didn't have to follow any fashion. Especially not those awful garish colors of the 1980s.
Saw him in concert just the once and ive never forgotten the experience. Out of all the hundreds of bands ive watched(and still watch) over the last 50+ years, that gig was one of the very special ones.
To be fair, He didn't die from liver failure. He succumbed to a MRSA infection that he contracted after his liver transplant. Alcohol isn't the only reason why someone's liver fails, you know.
MRSA or another one….Cytomegalovirus..CMT…..its one that is harbored in a lot of peoples systems and not causing trouble but with transplants it can and does come alive and over populate. I researched it. Liver failure too. Your right regarding alcohol ….it was the large amount of tylenol he was prescribed….its OTC now and also the steroid shots he was given (which is why he got bloated ) crush the immune system. Apparently he had too much pain from tendonitus….his hands mostly. His brother said he was nearly at deaths door when he finally consented to hospital. You can be sure he was in hell. Insomnia is a side effect of liver function loss as well as other things….no escape is what comes to mind. Just hell. Its such an outrage to me. Plus liver failure brings on changes to personality…..and most unpleasant thought …bad breath! Just cant imagine that but its how it goes. Drinking does the changes to personality too. I read he quit two around one year sober times per Gerry In Riding Shotgun. And hed ask others suffering who got sober how do you do it and always be concerned and kind to anyone who was in ill health but not talk about his own ill health and drinking gone south. Tylenol and steroids ( and mixing) killed him more than alcohol. I know the drill regarding alcohol. Had to quit it took over a decade!
Hi Los Comunistas , there are 4 books about Rory out till now. Be sure, he was a drinking man ! Even his Brother Donal, said he was. I never seen him drunk on stage. But from 1987 on he had really problems with his health. And he knew. But the worse thing was, that he took meds-cocktails. Paracetamol as injections and other bad things like steroids. He thought, it would help to be on stage like he was in earlier times. But it didn`t work. I love Rory! He trusted too much in doctors. An Angel !
Ich war einmal mit einem Mädchen aus, das Rod D'Aths Freundin war. Sie erzählte mir oft, wie unbedingt lieblich, höflich, freundlich und vornehm Herr Gallagher war.
People in the audience are given the opportunity to pose Rory with any number of questions. Despite this, he still gets asked a mundane question like "how much did it cost ye to refresh defender". Fucks sake lads.Money, money, money would ye fuck off
I’ve noticed how contemporary Rory Gallagher looks here. Just about every single person in this clip is dressed in the clothing style of the day and therefore, they look dated. Rory, probably the oldest person in the room, pulled it off effortlessly. With everything I’ve come to know about him, it’s not a surprise. He was always a cut above, even if he didn’t know it.
Rory....so humble and awsome ! he`s simply the best ! Shame on all his so called doctors. Gave that man steroids knowing he was a drinking guy. They all belong in jail !!
As much as I like Rory, you can't really blame the doctors. Everybody knows that alcohol and medicine do not go well together and that alcohol isn't really good for one's health even without the medicine. That is if he even drank that much. Some say that he did, others claim that he didn't.
