He was immature. He did a lot of wrong things. He was angry for whatever reason he was angry for and he had his own stuff to work out but, um, I always felt like other people were placeholders till Jess really grew up and became a man. You were like 'When is Jess gonna be man, so she can actually be with him?" That was my feeling. That was my gut feeling. [...] This is so terrible to say, but I almost feel like in both instances with Dean and with Logan, it's that she would almost have had to hold back a bit. With Dean because he never got all the references she was referencing. And Logan because there was an easy stream to Logan. There was always a money-ed response to any problem that they had. I feel like Jess didn't have any of that. Jess was a problem, but Jess said like, 'Be you at your best. I challenge you because I know I see who you are and I will not except anything less.' And maybe that's idealized and I don't know what Amy Sherman Palladino is planning for the reboot but I don't know."
