I’m a huge lefty but who gives a crap about his politics? Is he funny? Yes. I’m not voting for the guy. Man people really can’t compartmentalize this concept.
I'm a lefty too, and so is Rory from what I've ever been able to discern about him over the years. I don't personally care about a comedian's politics anyway, as long as they're funny and offensive (but it just so happens that comedians on the right have a very hard time being funny). The "I'm a Republican" thing was a joke though. The "obviously I'm gonna vote for Trump" was a clear joke as well. Please tell me you got that. Thought that was pretty damned obvious with no need of explanation. Especially if you've followed Rory's comedy over the years. But even if you haven't: come on, tone and context, people... I remember some thinking Rory was going to vote for Trump because in his Netflix special he said he was going to vote for Trump so that we could all die at the same time. I remain dumbfounded over how that joke went over people's heads. Anyway show me one time where Rory has exposed anything true and serious about himself without using sarcasm and satire in a routine, and I'll email you a free trial of Hulu, or maybe a GrubHub invite. Comedians that ever get serious in a routine (Birbiglia immediately comes to mind) fucking suck anyway. I don't want a Ted Talk from a comedian.
