Hi! This song is the fist chapter from her album: EL MAL QUERER (Bad Love) In this chapter she is predicting a toxic relationship although she still wants to go through it. The lyrics talk about bad predictions in a very methaforical way. "Ese cristalito roto" (that broken glass) refers to the transparency in a relationship which is broken. "Siento que estoy andando por un puente y que la acera, cuanto más quiero cruzarlo, más se mueve y tambalea) refers to an unstable bridge that gets more and more unstable when she keeps crossing it (a toxic relashionship), etc.
@@NuetralCodeMusic Also a methaphor about how society's raising lil' kids to be killers. She's the bull chasing the man, but the bull always gets killed by the man (torero). Think about it, 'Malamente' as you said means badly, as a conclusion, as in 'not that way, I disapprove'. So glad you liked it. You girls should really listen to the whole album, it's a pice of art. There's this guy named Jaime Altozano who's a genius, and he analyzes the whole album. Give it a try, is in spanish, but you may be able to put some automatic subtitles on or something... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NgHXFTgaVT0.html
Hi girls! :) I am an spanish girl so I can tell you what is this song about... the whole album tells the story of a woman who is on an abusive relationship with her man, this is the first song and it talks about a premonition, how all the signs around her were telling her something bad was about to happen... on the last song she sets herself free... so this album encorauges women to empower themselves :) i think is very beautiful and i love her voice too! Anyway i liked your video, you are very nice! :) kisses, Miriam
And also, that purple nazareno tunic symbolizes how that person was supposed to be someone modern but actually is someone with a very old traditional mindset.
No te pases. I don´t known if you speak spanish but if you don´t understand what I saying I can translate and explain it to you with detail.
It is a prelude of the tragic love story that will happen in the rest of the album. The first sentence means "there's a little broken glass, that I felt cracking, before it hit the floor, I knew that it would break...." "ese cristalito roto, yo sentí como crujía, antes de caerse Al suelo, ya sabia que se rompia..." as in she knows that is going to end badly.
There is a lot of Spanish symbolisms, one of them is the figure of the "penitent", who in the Catholic tradition walks in procession during the festivities of Spanish Semana Santa (Holy Week). It has nothing to do with the KKK. Thanks for reacting to this video!
Her entire “Mal Querer” album is based off of a novel and this video is about a woman that is being abused and is broken (car crash) then is taken to a gypsy to get fixed (this is what the mechanic represents) she is then representing the motorcycle chasing the bull fighter
For me as a Spanish girl means a lot that Rosalía is making known the Spanish music, she has created an urban genre, flamenco + trap and other genres, something hers, amazing and I'm glad that non-Hispanic speakers recognize her and like her and this new genre, thank you! 😊❤
I forget how much I love her until I see other people reacting to her music. She really is such an incredible artist - everything she does has meaning behind it, the music video, the lyrics, the beat, even the name of the album paired with the lyrics of the song. Wow. What an incredible woman
His music is very poetic. The woman seen with modern stereotypes and the man with the ancients. The bad relationships between couples is what is based in this song. Listen to the whole album because it is based on an Occitan novel written around 1270 entitled "Flamenca".
It’s amazing to see people from other countries who don’t even understand the lyrics can get the meaning behind the sound, so proud of how Rosalia is taking flamingo music to new levels and thanks for review her song and for your honest reactions, priceless really
The meaning of the song is about a toxic love relationship. Where the man is macho, that's why rosalia is represented with the motorcycle as if she were being bullied, as it would be with an animal. (Spanish tradition). Or for example when she lets the machine lift her and put her inside the truck. This song is the first of the album the bad love (el mal querer) and explains the bad feeling when starting a relationship that will only bring grief.
Im SO HAPPY that these girls havent mention KKK. Cos that purple costumbre has NOTHING to do with it and yet lots of ignorant haters are going on about it in Rosalía's youtube. Thanks
@Pink Flamingo Rosalia is from Spain, so yeah, is spanish. You can see many spanish cultural references like the "torero" or a religious guy (the one in purple) that you can see during our "Semana Santa" (Saint Week I guess) celebration.
There’re many interpretations with this music video, but the overall meaning is kinda like her introduction, this is the first song of her album (a conceptual album that tells a story), and she’s briefly explaining the concepts her album will talk about (a toxic relationship and the outcome) : love, toxicity, heartbreak, grief, woman empowerment... amongst others. and her aesthetic’s basically a mix between classic spanish with catholic elements, and modern day details like the clothing and the set, which is nowadays
The album is based in a Middle Ages' book called Flamenca that is about a woman who married a man and ends up locked in her house due to his jealousy. The intention was to compare both societies, questioning if it really had changed that much
Also, more interesting Rosalia videos to check out: Bagdad, A Pale, Aute Cuture, Di Mi Nombre, De Aqui No Sales, Juro Que, TKN, just to name a few. That last one also features Travis Scott. And if you want to see a video with major fashion, check out the video for Me Gusta by Brazilian pop star Anitta, featuring Cardi B and Myke Towers.
Hi! For understanding better what this song is about you need to listen to the whole álbum, cause every song is like a chapter of a story. Is a story about an abusive relation and is inspired by a spanish poem of s.XII. She wants to express that anything has changed from that years and that is so sad.
The lyrics talk about the mistreatment to a woman. In fact, all the songs in this album are chapters in a story about that. I'm glad you like it. I'm Spanish and I feel proud to have great artists like her. The more I hear and see what she does, the more I love it.
For those of you who are blowing your mind with the Rosalia's phenomenon: back in the 1970's Spanish pop-rock music experienced a similar revolution with the arrival of a flamenco-pop-rock singing duet of two Spanish Gypsy sisters named Las Grecas- Check them out and enjoy. Carmela and Edelia 'Tina' Muñoz recorded 4 albums between 1974 and 1977.
Os gusta Rosalía?, a mi tambien. Esta canción nos resuena a cada uno de diferente forma, el sigificado que le doy yo es de una relación tóxica de la cual ella quiere salir aunque sea...malamente
That's her final degree project. She's studied all her life flamenco and music and this is the result of four years (and more) of College. Her videos normally show how she grew up with. This one in particular show's spanish "sub-culture", the culture we handle in the streets. We have car races, we love flamenco, there's bulls and all the elements that appear in the video were specially chosen to show to that.
@Expecially3 This song has a bit of a back story. I’m not sure if anyone has explained, honestly I didn’t take the time to read all the comments. Basically, this is the first track of a conceptual album. The entire album tells the story of a woman who falls in love with a rich man that gets jealous and ends up locking her up. The title of this track, “Malamente” meaning badly, roughly translated, has also a second title “Augurio” which, roughly translated, means premonition. The lyrics talk about knowing from the get go that it was going to be a bad relationship, foreseeing the awful things that are about to happen to her. Please listen to the full album, every track is a banger. The interesting thing about Rosalia’s style is that she is mixing urban music with traditional flamenco beat patterns, and adding elements from trap and hip hop, creating harmonies around the main vocals and thus creating a full orchestrated dramatic sound.
Well, the meaning of the song is very abstract even for us (Spanish). Rosalía has already said that the hole album is based on a novel written in the XIV century. The novel talks about a women that fell in love with a man, they got married and the toxicity of the couple led her to an abusive relationship. The original novel is really old and the women's roll is really poor. Rosalía has made an adaptation with a stronger and more independent character. This first song talks about the couple it shelf. They both are really toxic to each other, the man is constantly playing with her emotions, she really depends on him... This is the general idea but there are a lot of points of view about this videoclip. Sorry if I make mistakes or if I misspelled any word, English is not my mother tongue.
No mistakes, I understood everything. Thank you, it's so cool how Rosalia based this off a novel and added her own twist to things. She is very talented, and we enjoy how unique this video, and even the sound is. Thanks for watching, and commenting!!
Surprised so many anglo people understand pretty well the message of the album, and thanks for helping Rosalia`s music get to the whole world...so proud, Rosalia rocks!
I'm from Spain, but I live abroad. I had heard of her, but didn't listen to her until today. Please y'all, listen to the full album beyond the two or three hits. Trap, flamenco, classical; I've never heard anything like this before. Looks like she wrote this entire album herself as her "dissertation" for her music degree. In sum, she's freacking genious. Seriously.
The video clip shows the area where Rosalia lived as a child in Catalonia. Rosalía's entire album is about a 13th century book, is a conceptual disc that is inspired in that book, that's why is called El Mal Querer. You can know more about It in de RU-vid channel of Jaime Altozano, i dont know if he have english subtitles But you can try It. Good night from Spain
All the songs from the album "El mal querer" are about a woman who is abused by her husband. Also a cool fact is that Rosalía was inspired from an old book called Flamenca that tells a similar story.
You should react to two videos of live performances of hers: "Me Quedo Contigo" at the GOYA Awards, and "De Plata" Directo en Sevilla. Not the video of the song, but rather the live performance Directo en Sevilla. Her vocals in both of them will blow you away.
Greetings from Madrid, Spain!! First, thanks for react to our artists and specially Rosalia, we love her!! Second, please react "Tu de Aquí No sales"...the song talks about abusive man. In this song (more than a song, i consider it a Skit or Interlude), Rosalia becomes this man, and tell her wife she doesnt go out their home, she is his prisioner, and tell her things like "Mucho más a mi me duele, de lo que a ti te está doliendo, conmigo no te equivoques, con el reves de la mano, yo te lo dejo bien claro....", that means "this is hurting me much more than it's hurting you, dont get me wrong, with the back of my hand, i´ll clarify what i say..." its a threat of hitting her if she doesnt obey him. The LP is a full story of a toxic relationship based on a book called "Flamenca" writen on 15th century but Rosalia has changed the story, becoming the victim in a strong woman able to do anything for getting her freedom, even kill his jealousy and toxic husband. "Malamente" tells the firsts meetings with his boyfriend. He is not good but she doesnt notice and "Augurio" (the name of the chapter related to this song) is how Gipsy people usually calls to a bad omen. Definitely, each song its a chapter of this fantastic story , an ode to feminism and a call to those women who are or were victims to stand up and fight. Sorry for my english if something its not understandable, XOXO
Probably you didn't understand the symbolism of the images. Try to imagine in the 60's young black people from New Orleans and young cajoon familes from the rural areas and swamps from deep Lousiana migrating to work in the new industrial plants in Detroit and living togheter in the skid rows areas around. The video shows that cultural and musical mixing 60 years after in Spain
Jajaja sus reacciones fueron increíbles jajaja quedaron como paralizadas jaja, como que no sabían que pasó, jaja me encantan son unas genias! Besos desde Argentina 😘
