“Resisting destiny” Very much under emphasized, was the performance of rural (randland aka medieval) American identities from an extremely insular community suddenly being pushed into prominence and then outright power. I mean, they went from stammering when talking to a stagecoach driver to being Mayor, General, Emperor, Amyrilin etc.
