Sveltlana is peerless at this early stage of her career, and still dancing in top form. I well understand the criticisms, for some people, she just has too many gifts, beauty, talent, technique, perfect proportions, gorgeous arms, the list goes on and on, it must be hard to take ! ,
Wonderful! Unlike an earlier performance of hers, she's the first modern day Russian ballerina I've seen who dares to balance with both arms in fifth high. So much more theatrically effective and exciting!
The difficulty that I have with Svetlana is believing she is a young princess or maiden (the living Giselle) when, instead, she always looks like a Goddess. She is my favorite Odette/Odile.
Russian ballet the best in the world ! Светлана Захарова чудесна, легка, технична , пластична и с русской душой, которая передаёт тонкие чувства танца и души ! Браво !!!!!♥️
Indisputable. Even nowadays many ballerinas of many companies try to compare themselves to her in this role. Even the tutu she wore by Oliver Messel and the scenery has been copied.
A real bore, Every time I see a ballet with her I fall asleep. Not much art. Too much gymnastics. What is really strange is that see looks rigid even though she is supposed to be very flexible. Not supple. Too fibrous. Too skinny.
lol, just because a dancer is flexible at some parts doesn’t mean she is at all parts, and the vice versa is true. Svetlana has always had a stiffer upper body than other dancers. But that’s not a “gymnast” body. Gymnasts actually have to have a very flexible upper body otherwise they would break their back and waist doing tumblings. Gymnasts also do not need to have high extensions but mostly spontaneous power. Osipova is more of a gymnast dancer-she would many times disregard musicality just to jump higher and spin faster. Svetlana is an archetypal dancer-her feet are floaty and light and they barely touch the ground. No world class gymnast can do what she can do. You don’t like her stiffer upper body that’s fine. But to say she doesn’t have much art is simply being ridiculous. She has much more artistic nuances than most. She knows how to interpret the roles even given her limitations. She knows how to orient her neck and head, how to act with her facial expressions, instead of doing virtually nothing with them as is the case with most dancers that I’ve seen with softer upper bodies.
No one with even the slightest knowledge or appreciation for classical ballet would ever make such a ridiculous statement about Zakharova. Sheer ignorance 🙄
