"In this interview, Milton Friedman, who was awarded the 1976 Nobel Prize in Economics, describes the values, objectives, and beginnings of the Mont Pelerin Society. He explains what it was like to create a society dedicated to classical liberalism in a world where the prevailing economic views leaned towards central planning and collectivism. Since it was founded in 1947, this organization has grown and prospered; offering its members from around the world opportunities to exchange and discuss their ideas. Friedman also comments on the significant role Universidad Francisco Marroquín has played in promoting the ideals of free-market economics and the importance of protecting private property. This interview was conducted by Hoover Institution and presented at the Mont Pelerin Society meeting in London in 2002."
"Anyone who is persuaded in one evening (or even ten one-hour evenings) is not really persuaded. He can be converted by the next person of opposite views with whom he spends an evening. The only person who can truly persuade you is yourself. You must turn the issues over in your mind at leisure, consider the many arguments, let them simmer, and after a long time turn your preferences into convictions." - Friedman, Free to Choose

In the Uk the government sold all assets. ( water companies , BP British rail ) as according to the free market it would be better. Well unfortunately the CEOs off the companies became very rich and the water companies and rail went down the drain. In the Netherlands all these companies stayed in government hands and they are thriving. This talk that all goverment companies and employees are crap is absolut bollocks. In a unregulated free market you get excesses.

@HiramAbif72 I think your comment was not worth writing. You did not state a specific grievance with what he said in the video. You did not put forward any evidence contrary to his opinion. And, by not doing so, you added no value to the general intellectual pursuit of the truth. It truly is sickening that such meaningless comments are posted.

Friedman had no success stories. Chile is a great example. Israel an Great Britain paid a heavy price for taking Friedman's advice and Richard Nixon.

waterhead001 if you say that Chile is not an example, how do you explain that the poor’s ratio decreased from 50 % to 5% since liberal economics reforms where adopted? That’s just one example, you can extrapolate to every development parameter and you’ll find proof of the success of liberal theories in a country that most of it history was mediocre.

Milton Friedman's ideas influenced the US government in the 1980s. Some of your IQ's are lower than the living conditions of the people in all those totalitarian nations that have resisted the idea of freedom.
