Haha!! All you need is duct tape in this life bro!! Thanks so much buddy… love being in the desert with these lads… so real and so genuine. Have a great Sunday night mate.😊
The Australian Rose Quartz is certainly very unique and special, and so glad you enjoyed our episode! Definitely come to visit us at our showcase at the Tucson Showplace!
thanks so much - that really means a lot to us! We've got some amazing, super hard working crew behind the scenes who are brilliant at their craft capturing all of this. And how lucky are we in Oz that we have this beautiful landscape and gems that naturally lend itself to being on film?!
I remember as a kid I’d get dragged along by my rock hounding grandfather all over the state collecting semi precious gemstones in his old 1972 Holden HQ ute, which was brand new back then & his pride & joy. He used to drive trains (steam locos in his early days but later the diesel replacements). So I remember him taking me to a railway siding out of Muchea somewhere collecting “apricot quartz”. I think he said it was “Chert”. It had been carted there by the railways and dumped as railway ballast in the siding. He recognised the apricot quartz as being suited to polishing in his rock tumbler, hence why we went there to collect the best part of a Ute load. I had the impression the apricot quartz was carted there by rail from a quarry somewhere out Yinnitharra way. This video brought back some nice memories of childhood days with a grandfather long since gone now, so thanks heaps for your efforts. 👍👍👍🇦🇺
It's great to hear it brought back good memories with your grandfather Ian. Every time I travel to these old leases I’m constantly reminded of my grandparents and travelling with my old man as a kid. These memories are the things to cherish most. Pictures are good, but when a memory is triggered due to a name of place or even smell, these are the real treasures. I’ve heard of a few sidings with some nice-looking quartz over the years, I’ll have to keep this one in mind.
Nice work mate I subscribed love the video prospecting out there is what I love doing I believe the smoky colour in the quartz is a result of alumina and radiation over billions of years please keep sharing 👍👍👍
Thanks for the support mate - its been pretty incredible to prospect the Tourmaline alongside the Rose. So happy I can share the journey with you guys.
Duct tape is the bandaid of champions! what we would do without it? hahaha it's saved me a million times and it actually stays on through all the dust and grime out there!
Love the aerials, they really do show the vastness and the colour of the outback. Australian rose quartz, any idea on the age of these quartz you uncovered?
How good is seeing the landscape from that angle!! The age of the Rose Quartz is still unclear but we believe it ranges between 3.8 - 4 billion years old, making part of some of the youngest igneous rocks around that area!
Always have to give something back. I do a bit of woodcarving, every piece gets a bit of blood out of me. Glad to see you found some beauty to share with the world. Bloomin hard yakka that.
I've given my fair share of blood to the rocks too! I get it - the personal touch that goes into woodcarving not only showcases your skill but also carries a piece of you with it. Keep up the hard work and passion!
Great question! I could go on all day, but in essence Rose quartz is formed when silicon dioxide combines with trace amounts of titanium, iron, or manganese during the cooling process of magma. Glad you loved our episode!
I love geology and studying how these minerals and made and what they are. As I was looking at some gorgeous crystals I realized I don’t know how these minerals are mined😮. Thank you so much for this video!
It's always fun and fascinating digging these awesome gems, but also such a privilege to be a part pf uncovering and truly appreciating mother nature and just how amazing she most definitely is..
We mine a stunning Black Nephrite Jade locally here in Western Australia on Ninghan Station. A few locations around Australia produce varieties of Nephrite but the one we deal with has a superior Black Mirror thats reminiscent of even the best Wyoming Jades.
